Livingstone Hotels

It may seem simply like a clean and attractive town, but Livingstone, named after the great explorer, crackles with anticipation and hums with adventure. At the edge of the town lies the Victoria Falls National Park, which drives tourism here. There’s nothing comparable to standing at the precipice of one of the world’s great waterfalls. It’s an adrenaline high, a soul-stirring experience, and a visceral reminder of the wonder of the natural world. Grab your outdoor gear and prepare for adventure.

Things to see

Creating a phenomenal natural boundary between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Victoria Falls National Park will leave you awestruck. The falls thunder down a 100-metre drop and stretch across 2 kilometres. Rainbows dance in the veil of mist as the water roars. No wonder the Zambian name for the national park, Mosi-oa-Tunya, means Smoke that Thunders. If you visit between May and October, and you have nerves of steel, then you can take a dip in the Devil’s pool. Protected only by a narrow lip of rock, you can swim right up to the edge of the falls, the Zambezi River crashing into the chasm all around you. Back in the town of Livingstone, there are more sedate pleasures on offer, including several notable museums. The main Livingstone museum is the country’s oldest, and contains a whole variety of treasures, from prehistoric tools to artefacts and memorabilia relating to David Livingstone.

These top-end hotels feature full service spas to pamper you after a day of adventure at the falls, or you can just relax on a lounger by the pool. There are a couple of cheap hotels in Livingstone too, offering comfortable rooms and a free breakfast.

If you opt for one of the luxury hotels here, you’ll have stunning views of the Falls, which you can enjoy all the more when the crowds have departed for the day. Just a little further away, there are a few lower-priced hotels still within easy reach of the Falls. Central Livingstone offers a cultural, historic stay, with museums and budget hotels on offer.
