Telford Hotels

An ultra-modern town constructed on hopes, dreams and the memory of a great civil engineer, Thomas Telford, this Shropshire town is quite a fascination. A gleaming steel sign welcomes you, with the figure of Thomas leaning on the ‘O’ of Telford. The New Town is packed with entertainment, leisure and shopping venues, with a host of child-friendly activities in the day and a vibrant nightlife after-hours. Nearby, however, the UNESCO site of industrial Ironbridge is firmly rooted in the past.

Things to see

Shopaholics rejoice - Telford’s town centre is dominated by a vast mall with over 170 shops, as well as restaurants, cafés and cinemas. It’s popular with people from all over Shropshire, so the atmosphere is always buzzing. If you prefer outdoor activity, then Telford Town Park is the ideal destination, with plenty for the whole family to enjoy. There are aerial rope courses, water parks and mini-golf to keep children active and entertained, while scenic trails through the forest are a delight at any age. The nearby UNESCO World Heritage site of Ironbridge offers a change of pace and a thoroughly interesting day out. Here, you can see the first bridge to be made of iron – it has been a continually popular tourist attraction since it was built in 1779. The working Victorian village at Blists Hill, with actors dressed up in period costume, brings the industrial Revolution to life.
