Its heritage deeply rooted in the ancient times, the city boasts a slew of museums and archaeological sites, whilst its modern business credentials give it a cosmopolitan character. Things to see

Graced with the warm turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Limassol’s beaches are among its biggest draws. Adorned with eucalyptus trees, popular Dasoudi Beach reclines in front of the city’s touristy centre, putting it within easy reach of many hotels. Ladies Mile Beach is a more serene alternative, located just a few minutes outside of the city bustle. Known as a windsurfer’s paradise, the pebbled and sandy stretch is home to a variety of restaurants. Situated by the old port in the Old Town, the stout stone structure of Limassol Castle was built in the late 1500’s. The site however is much older, and in 1191 witnessed the marriage of Richard the Lionheart and Berengaria of Navarre. The castle’s museum contains a treasure trove of artefacts dating from the 4th to 19th century, including ancient coins, jewellery, art and weapons. If that’s whet your historical appetite, the vast collection at Limassol District Archaeological Museum is not to be missed either.
