How to get to Hakone

Tokyo International Airport is about 90 minutes away from Hakone, with taxis and shuttle services available from the terminals. Most foreign citizens cannot drive in Japan without a special license, so it’s best to book a car service if you plan to travel around a lot. You can also pick up a bus from the airport with the journey taking 2 and a half hours. Some visitors also arrive via Narita International Airport which is just over 2 hours away from Hakone. You can also take the train to central Tokyo, taking a connection on the Odakyu Romancecar train to Hakone, with the journey also taking around 2 hours.
