This is a great hotel just off the top of Great Portland Street. The hotel is well presented and a 10 minute walk from Oxford Circus. The rooms are well furnished and very clean and well maintained. I've stayed at the Melia WHite House on numerous occasions and it's best quality is it's consistency. It's always clean, usually very efficient, and despite being a bit chaotic, has one of the best breakfasts in London.

You can't fault the hotel for the standard of the rooms and the quality of the room service is particularly good. However I had to wait 25 minutes to check in and when I got to the front of the queue finally, there was no apology from the reception staff - to me or to the other people checking in - who were also visibly frustrated. All hotels have busy […] times and checking in can take longer at certain times of the day and if I'd had an apology I wouldn't have thought much more of it. Good sized rooms for London, with minibar fridge. Gym had a range of machines and free weights. Convenient tube links and a number of restaurant options within 5 mins. Deserves it's 4* rating.

The room was huge and the bed very comfortable. I liked the products in the bathroom and the staff were friendly. Check in needs improvement - so slow to check out I ended up filling in an express check out form, so yet to see if the receipt turns up. Gt Portland St tube is v close by.

excellent, we found the staff all very courteous particularly in the porter and reception area. we could however have done wilthout a phone call at 12.30 at night querying a bar bill , we had arranged a £50.00 credit which more than covered the cost. It was fine. Very little room between end of bed and wall but space to sides of bed more than adequate, but still felt cramped.

What makes the Melia an excellent hotel is the staff-- friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast is quite good. The minute you enter the premises, you get a feel of "upscale"; and it is a lovely furbished establishment that is high-tech. The staff are courteous and helpful. The rooms were a reasonable size and comfortable. The bar/lounge has a relaxing atmosphere, particularly with the evening entertainment. The best rates are when you pay in advance of your […] stay, but of course there is always a risk, should you need to cancel. The downside is that if you make use of the fridge (which is small), there is a PNDS15 a day charge. Oh, and be careful of the minibar (fridge) - which is well stocked I might add - it is computerized; so immediately upon taking an item out of its slot, you will be automatically charged! I made use of the gym which was relatively nice and clean. Location was convenient; about 8 minutes by taxi from St. Pancras Station, and there is also a tube station about 150 yards away. I feel after our stay that this hotel really just wants you to upgrade as the standard room we had was quite poor. The hotel has a lovely reception and bar but the room we got was a far cry from this standard.

Excellent service from staff-far grater than experienced in other London hotels. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.

It was my second time staying at the hotel. Very close to Carnaby, Street, Oxford Street, Regents Park. I especially like that the hotel provides natural toiletries without parabens - it's a very cool extra.

A great hotel with a good local pub around the corner. Excellent service and much better than the holiday inn's etc that you get for the same price. Close to Euston train station with a underground station right by it. Was treated very well and would use again.

I booked this hotel for my husbands birthday. My friend recommended it to me and said the rooms were compact but modern and clean and location was perfect!! That is exactly how I would describe it.

The hotel represented it had wifi, which was a main reason we selected it. It was entirely undependable and the staff was no help in fixing it. The refrigerator with items for purchase had a sticker on it advising that if you used it for your own items, you would be charged an additional $20 a day.

We were so surprised when we saw our room! We thought for European standards, the room would be tight but it was huge even compared to US standards. It had 2 pull out sofas, a king sized bed and still plenty of room for the 4 of us. The staff were so friendly, the breakfast and tapas were amazing, drinks were available at any time of day, the free wifi […] was great, business office for printing was a plus and the workout room was great. We loved the treats that were left in our room each night. The hotel was so clean! The location was great since the tube was across the street and several other stations were close by. We walked to Madame Tussauds, Regent's Park and to Oxford street for shopping. Awesome location!! Would highly recommend it to friends and family. Check in staff were difficult to understand, so we did not get information about the strangest way to call a lift I have every experienced in any hotel. So not a good start when all we wanted to do was get to the room as quickly as possible. The room itself was very very small. The bar prices were unbelievable, quite outrageous. This is a lovely hotel in a handy, central location. It is worth booking a room with access to the Level Lounge as the breakfast buffet is delicious and you can enjoy wine and appetizers in the evening.

A very impressive older hotel that is fully up to date in service and amenities. Terrific location. The only criticism is that, like many British hotels, there is no lesser option to the full breakfast buffet at what is an outrageous price for the average American.
