The staff,location,and value were amazing! I would recommend this hotel without any reservations.

The staff were friendly and competent. The rooms clean and comfortable though very dated. The lobby looked fine as a 'period' room. The carpets and the paint on the walls in the corridors and guest rooms need refreshing; makes the place look tired..

The single rooms are very small and the totel is in some need of updating/redecorating. However staff were fine, and hotel is in a quiet location.

Cheap and perfect located near to Clifton village and central Bristol but very worn down and in poor condition

The welcome and ambiance was very good. Public areas were fine and relaxing. Outside bar was buzzing on a summer's evening and great fun. big letdown was the room, said double bed on the booking form, got single, cramped, pokey, scruffy and very hot. Needed a good clean or makeover, would not have wanted to spend two nights there.

I felt a bit like I was in an episode of The Hotel Inspector, half way through when it's only half ready. The staff were very young and inexperienced, and panicked every time someone asked them a question, but seemed to sort people out in the end. The lounge was beautiful and very relaxing to sit in, gorgeous decor, lovely music. The restaurant looked great but I didn't eat there as I had other plans. My room, however, was like one from a student halls of residence, in desperate need of a makeover, pretty shabby and very pokey. But clean, and there was fresh fruit on the side, which was a nice touch. All things considered, not bad for the price, especially considering its location.

really friendly staff, very welcoming. Dead handy for town and Clifton, and just round the corner is a little gem of a Lido pool with restaurant and coffee. Hotel seems to have a nice restaurant and an outside drinking area. Very welcoming ...... did I mention that??

I only can tell you about room 63. The room was very small. The hotel was pretty far from the train station and not many stores around.

The Clifton Hotel is set in a nice part of the city;hotel procedures are kept to a minimum and there is a nice buzz to the hotel generally,as there is a cafe and a bar on the ground floor open to non-residents.Rooms are comfy enough...the only minor,minor negative is that at weekends the bar/cafe can become quite noisy so if you are looking for an absolutely quiet hotel,maybe skip the weekends!Staff are fine.

The website looks great, sadly the hotel does not live up to the hype. A run down shabby hotel. Undertrained reception staff who dont even know how to find a local doctor or open chemist. The room was run down and shabby, very 1970's. However on a positive note the food in the hotel was excllent, well cooked breakfast and superb scrambled eggs, cooked to perfection. So top marks to the chef.

I would definitely stay at the Clifton Hotel, not only was the room clean, tidy and fully equipped, the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The only downside I came across was the temperature in the shower which was too hot. Aside from this, I was really happy to stay at the hotel, which was close to the city centre at a very reasonable price.

It was obvious that this Hotel had undergone alot of renovation. The room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable, the sheet were crisp and fresh, the bed was very comfortable. There was a nice touch with a selection of fresh fruit in the room which was nice.

A warm summer's day and it felt like the heating was on; the towel rail certainly was. We couldn't turn this off and as a result the room was far too hot. Reasonably comfortable and the staff were friendly. Could do with a bit of modernising though.

Renovation to this old style hotel is sorely needed. I commend the staff on their upbeat style in a hotel needing some love and attention. Rooms are small, stairs creak...if you are looking for a Sherlock Holmes style hotel you will do well here.

I wouldn't stay here again, i know it's only a 2 star but the hotel was very shabby. We booked a no smoking room but ended up in a smoking room and the smell was absolutely disgusting. For the second night we were moved to a no smoking room, however the noise from Racks bar below (which is actually very nice and therefore very popular) was absolutley horrendous, the walls and floor of the room were vibrating, we even tried putting the tv on to drown out the noise but it didn't work! We phoned reception to see if they could ask for the music to be turned down slightly and they said as it's a seperate venture they have very little control over what they can do. Thankfully there was another room available, but trapsing through the hotel at 11pm at night in your pjs and suitcases isn't ideal! I'm not normally one to write on these sort of pages but just wouldn't want anyone else to have as little sleep as we did!

Very noisy, room located above resturant/pub. No TV working, no effort made to repair fault. Room vey warm durng the night. Bathroom in dis-repair, shower closet extremely small, decor requires urgent attention, overall standard poor.

The service was excellent. The hotel is well situated in the Clinton area. It has a comfortable bar and restauarant. Overall, the ambience was good. The rooms are very small.

les employés sont très serviables. L'hotel (confort, propreté...) est pas mal et très bien situé (Clifton), pas trop loin du centre ville à pied et à côté du musée. Le seul et unique "hic" du séjour est que notre chambre se situait au 1er étage, juste au-dessus de la terrasse du bar-restaurant, il ne faut pas vouloir dormir de bonne heure, surtout le vendredi et samedi soir (les fenêtres anglaises n'apportent vraiment aucune isolation acoustique).

Exelent Service, close to the centre and busstops. The hotel's service and restaurant were really good.
