Hotel Majestic - Сан-Франсіско

The room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the sidewalk and there was car traffic all night as well as passersby who spoke loudly on their cell phones. Most disturbingly, the shower had a huge clump of long black hair that someone apparently threw onto the shower wall where it dried up and stuck to the wall. The shabby room and bathroom were disappointing […] but something I could have put up with for 2 nights but the noise level and the disgusting shower made me leave after the the first night. (I had requested a room change but was advised by the front desk that the entire hotel was booked through the week and that they would not move me to another room). I found the Majestic a very attractive, clean and pleasant hotel. Good service by courteous employees. Rather convenient for opera goers, but the return walk is a rather strenuous uphill climb a good deal of the way! One complaint would be boards surrounding the bottom of the beds on all sides caused me to bang my toes against them, and it took a while […] to learn to approach the bed slowly and carefully. Hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants. It is a short bus ride or cab ride away from union square/BART. hotel itself was quaint and comfortable. upside was wonderful, helpful staff, charming hotel. downsize was no air conditioning (which isn't necessary most of the year). we had a nice breeze by opening the windows, however, there is some […] street noise. overall, I would recommend this hotel for its affordability, location, and charm. look forward to staying there again! Really bad service. Very rude staff. Poorly maintained accommodation for example really old and squeaky bed, old shower.

Plus all the fussy features look a bit dirty if you look too closely Very small rooms compared to others in the states but fine for a couple of nights you get what you pay for!

A very nice older hotel. Not close to the sights of the city. There are plenty of bus routes nearby. They say the hotel is haunted by a young woman. Her picture hangs by the front desk.

As a non-business guest, I loved the Hotel Majestic's quaint decor, luxuriously comfortable beds and clean rooms. Hotel Majestic has a long history - it was built before the San Francisco fire in 1906 and has the reputation as the longest operating hotel in the area. It's known for it's Victorian style and is rumored to have a friendly ghost which haunts the 4th floor. I stayed on the 4th floor and am disappointed to say I was not visited by the famous apparition. An older hotel, the building has no central air conditioning system - not a problem considering the temperate climate of the area. The elevator is a bit quirky, but I didn't find the stairs a problem. The hotel is within an easy distance to local transportation and some nice restaurants. Shuttle service is available - but not free and must be reserved in advance. The Majestic boasts a restaurant and bar which serves breakfast and dinner. I had a delicious muffin and coffee for breakfast but had already made plans to eat elsewhere during my stay. The service was friendly and the dinner menu looked comparable in price and menu to area restaurants. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Majestic on future trips. Читати далі

Checking in at the shop-worn front desk I wondered if I'd made a mistake. The elevator to the room was slow and scuffed. The hallway was not musty, but looked like it should be. My husband and I are from the East Bay and wanted to stay one night in the city without spending an arm and a leg. We wanted a clean and safe place to stay. rather well worn , in need of total renovation. wood in entrance porch rotting -not a very good welcome . had two rooms , with friends, in both the wardrobe doors didn't shut - we found a dirty pair of socks in the drawer our friends found several pairs of dirty knickers in their room . Neither of the rooms had been properly cleaned . we were offerred […] a round of drinks free as compensation & also manged to get our valet parking for free . Although we were told there were no altermative rooms available our friends were moved the next day "because of problems withy their sink" they were unaware of any problem . We weren't moved & when we asked the front desk we were basically told if we didn't like it we could leave -with no refund for the two nights outstanding on our stay. Basically very rude , on several occasions walking away to "work" during our conversations although we saw no evidence of him doing any work. Would not recommend to my worst enemy !! Читати далі

If you are into historic hotels and a historic feel then this is your place. However this once beautiful landmark is in need of a renovation. For a one day stay on our wedding anniversary, this was perfect. Room was clean, comfortable and cozy. Not big by todays standards, but the room was used well. Staff was professional, courteous and prompt. Right on the edge of Japantown. We would definitely stay here again.

the room is very very small. there is not safety box. there is not refrigerator. it's not 3 stars.

This hotel does make you feel like you are in old time. This does mean that the furnishings and amenities aren't up to date. My only real gripes are that there were only a few electrical outlets and AT&T cell service was not good in my room. The staff was really friendly and ready to help at a moment's notice. The staff at this hotel are extremely nice and accommodating. The rooms are cozy and nice for the price. The area itself is quiet, safe and conveniently located if you want to explore various parts of the city. I have stayed at the Majestic several times. I love the neighborhood--much quieter and less congested than the hotels near Union Square--and near the Fillmore District, which is my preferred area for eating out. The hotel is a beautiful, restored Victorian mansion. The rooms are quaint--all with 4 poster beds and antiques. The hotel is clean and tidy, […] but it is not impeccably maintained. There is the occasional peeling paint. The windows in my room did not work properly and the curtain on one window fell down every time I touched it. Wireless service was $7 for the length of my stay, which is a pretty good deal. The hotel has a nice restaurant on the ground floor, but breakfast is not included with the room. We found the hotel to be charming and well located to public transport. Yes it is old, but that is its charm. We really had no complaints at all. If you want five star stay at the Hyatt or Hilton. If you want charm and convenience then you can't go wrong here.

Classic SF stay if you like funky, slightly askew but in a fun way. Check in was quick, upgraded to a corner top floor three exposure room. I say funky as one window shade was broken, fabric on couch was frayed and TV was from the 90s. Who cares? It was a fun spot, well located and what the spirit of historic SF needs.

The place is pretty. Hand painted elevator interior, well maintained, pretty exterior. Parking and location a problem. You pay extra to get valet parking and after tips that adds up to be an unexpected costly pain. Walk a few blocks to Japan town and find food or walk farther to Filmore for lots of choices of food, drink, movies and shop. Could walk […] to Van Ness to see what is there next time. While not a new place with amenities, the Majestic is a throwback to a different era in San Francisco. Great, personalized service, and a really nice bar and old world dining room for breakfast. The room was very comfortyable. If o0ne is looking for a moderate price, smaller hotel, with San Francisco authenticyty,m this is a very good place.

Checked in and left within a few hours. Room was small and the building was old, hadn't been renovated in years it seemed. That can be expected in an old city like San Francisco. Not a single complaint about the service as they would probably wipe your shoes if you asked them. Just wasn't our fit

My only complain are two (2) things: The shower in the room no pressure at all & the curtain would not close completely. At the bar: Did have main ingrents to make a basic drink; bar area nice, but liquor selection poor. Otherwise the hotel was Ok; & yes location was excellent.

We were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Majestic. It was convenient to public transportation, and had a real San Francisco feel, decorated in an Edwardian style. The restaurant and bar were great, as well. Our room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. We loved the ambiance and setting of the hotel. The room was in charming Victorian style and served our needs well. The mattress was very firm and I would have liked it softer. Front desk (two separate shifts) and the valet were all professional and exceptionally considerate to us. I highly recommend the Majestic.

The quality of the rooms vary. My room was very small and at the head of stairs on second floor, so I could hear people coming in until about midnight. My friend had a bigger room on corner of second floor but it was noisy due to traffic at corner. So, book directly and try to get something on the upper floors and with some space. This hotel was gorgeous, but not glitzy or ostentatious. The staff was very helpful and professional without being pushy. When we wanted to self park, the valet did not turn away in a huff, but instead gave us complete information regarding parking garages and parking on the street. This would be a 5-star luxury hotel in Europe. I loved the history and the old world charm. Staff were great. I really liked Aura. She is the waitress in Cafe Joe's in the morning. Food was great - both breakfast and diner. It is a few blocks from Fillmore Street which has many shopping and dining options. It is even closer to Japan Town - more dining […] options. The only change I would make was the bed.. it was a bit hard for my liking. I met the new owner and he said that they are in the process of several improvements, including new carpet and matresses. Elegant restaurant, convenient location, bedding was beautiful. We would stay there again!

Not a speactacular place-older, run down some. But- in a great and quiet location, in between Fillmore on one side and downtown on the other. Near enough restaurants. Price vs. convenience vs. location- winner.

The front desk was super helpful and the rooms were very enchanting. I felt like I was in an hold historical building. I loved it.

This is a classic old hotel relatively near the San Francisco Civic Center area. We stayed in the Ballet Suite, which included a wonderfully detailed sitting room with a non-operating fireplace, sofa, and large bay windows. The bedroom area had a king size four-poster bed, and the bathroom had double sinks. The high ceilings had original plaster molding. […] The only downer was the stained wall to wall carpeting. Old-fashioned place; feels very European. My room was very comfortable and very quiet. It's a bit out of the way, but the Muni was only a couple of blocks away. Very old TV, though, which didn't work too well. Very good rates for a good night's sleep!
