we had a room with 2 double beds. I could see a room with one bed is would be really too small. The beds were very comfy, the room was quiet but we were on the 10th floor. Overall we thought the hotel was nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the neighborhood was perfect. However, the reason we are rating this hotel a 3 instead of a 4 is because the room was really tiny for a family of 4 and the air conditioning unit was terribly loud which made it difficult to sleep. Nice, clean hotel; however, the bellmen/doormen not so good. It was pouring rain and several people needed a cab. One doorman simply said that it was very difficult to get a cab from there. The Lucerne is very well-located, one short block to the subway, and is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and very responsive (we asked for extra towels following a late-evening arrival, and they sent up more than we asked for right away). "Just how I expected a New York hotel to be."
Loved the Lucerne, it was in a great location, close to the subway and close to plenty of places for eating. The room wasn't huge but elegantly furnished and very comfortable. My mother and I took a girls trip to New York and really enjoyed our stay at the Lucerne. The location is fantastic, close to Central Park. "A good place to stay in Uptown West"
When we arrived to our room, the room was not made. The linens were folded on top of the unmade bed and the shower had no curtain so we called the reception and they moved us to another room. Found the Lucerne online. Wonderful experience staying there. Room was clean and modern. Would stay again. Only had one issue, the door lock did not work when we arrived but the maintenance guy had it fixed in short order which was a nice surprise. We were visiting NY from Rhode Island to hear a Philharmonic concert. The hotel is so convenient to Lincoln Center, the best stay we have had for this purpose by far. Two subway stops and you are there. We have stayed at the Lucerne every year since 2003 and it has consistently been clean and the staff always has a warm welcome. It's just two blocks away from the Hayden Planetarium and the Natural History Museum. Nice Matin restaurant is adjacent to the hotel and there are numerous other restaurants within a ten minute or less walk from the hotel. […] Additionally, there is a a CVS pharmacy across the street and just five minutes away is Zabars market on Broadway. The subway entrance is located a three minute walk away on Broadway and 79th. street with trains both north bound and south to Times Square and beyond. We highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in The Lucerne for one night after an opera visit. The service was very good and the room clean and comfortable. For those with little experience in NYC, we booked a superior room. I haven't seen the regular room in this hotel, but I know the shoeboxes in other hotels. So, this category was definetly worthwhile the higher costs. The only (minor) […] complaint was that the top sheets came late (but they came and were still warm from the dryer). The hotel is conveniently located close to good restaurants and not far away from the Lincoln center, our main destination. We will come back for sure. "Repeat visit"
this was my second visit to this hotel, and I highly recommend it. The only criticism I have is that there is no mini bar and no room service. there are stores in close proximinty, but it would be nice to get a complimentary bottle of water and have a bottle of wine and snacks for purchase in the room. "Lovely Room & Great Location!"
From the minute we arrived, the staff at the Lucerne was fabulous -- kind, forthcoming and ready to help. The Concierge was able to book us on a bus tour within ten minutes of our arrival! The room was gorgeous (small, but OK, its NYC!) with a lovely bath and VERY comfortable beds. Everything new, clean and attractive. "A little gem west of the park"
The staff at the Lucerne are quite lovely, and our room vastly exceeded expectations in terms of size and quality for the price paid. We thought we'd get a "bijou" room, typical in affordable Manhattan hotels, but it was large and very well furnished. A quick walk to the park and museums and subways. "The Lucerne made New York perfect."
We were in New York during the blizzard, what a great time. The hotel staff checked us out then back in when all flights were grounded. We used the day to visit close by museums and a great local pub two blocks down. The Lucerne's location was perfect for everything we wanted in New York. "A Very Nice Upper West Hotel"
We only stayed one night but we found the hotel quite acceptable. The lobby and staff were very helpful and efficient. I really appreciated the fact that the lobby was well-guarded and a sign said no non guests could go up to the rooms between 11 pm and 8 am. The rooms were clean but could definitely use remodeling and sprucing up. But our room was […] clean and comfortable. Still, the decor looked circa 1970s or 80s.
