They've recently refitted all rooms with modern style furniture and flat screen tv's. Very pleasant! And a free breakfast at the Big Boys next door (or discount on the hot breakfast buffet). I'll definitely stay here again!

My experience with Red Roof is limited as I am mostly a Marriott patron, especially its Spring Hill Suites brand. I chose RR b/c of its location and price for this visit. I reserved a superior king. The room was bright and nicely done and from what I could tell, well maintained. I am not a fan of doors opening to the outside and in this hotel, the balcony […] often had guests outside smoking and chatting -- nothing disruptive, though. My biggest complaint is the bedspread, while reasonably clean, was still spotted with stains and obviously is not changed with every guest -- as is Marriott. thus, I am not nuts about staying warm in bed with a comforter than who knows who has pulled up to them as well. The fake wood floors are amazing -- but still this is an old-style motel, tidied up, and it is hard for that image to shake. I am not sure I'd stay here again, even if I have to pay more elsewhere. Room was up to date and very clean. I would definetly sate again at this Hotel. The location was right off the highway.

The new design of the rooms is great. I think the wood floor works even better, easier to keep clean.

It was very loud and I'm not a heavier sleeper, but was awake half the night due to noise.

Had difficulty getting into wifi. Desk clerk phoned tech support and was quickly connected. Thank you!

I was very pleased with the inside of the room and how modern and updated it was. Very nice and comfortable.

This Red Roof Inn is a beautiful renovated facility with excellent staff !

Simple and clean

I stayed for two nights in a double full room. The room is pretty clean and spacious overall. The only downside that affected my quality of stay is the poor quality of the linens, pillows and mattress. Did not find the pillows to be very comfortable and in good, fluffy condition, and the sheets/blankets were mediocre. The mattress was also firmer and […] not very supportive. However, given the price, it is to be expected that I would not be in more luxurious surroundings. The bathroom is very clean, though! I also did appreciate the wireless internet, One note: I was told at check-in that breakfast was not provided. Breakfast is provided in the form of a voucher to the Big Boy restaurant next door, which has a limited, basic complimentary menu for hotel guests. You can get this voucher from the front desk staff. If you are looking for basic, affordable accommodations and a no frills place to sleep, this is a good option. Very nice hotel. Staff were professional, kind, and seemed relaxed which to me, they enjoyed being there and like their job. The room smelled nice, very clean, and I liked that it had hardwood floors. To me that means they are easy to keep much cleaner than carpet. I have hardwood floors in my home and it's so easy to run a damp mop over and practically […] sterilize them. There is a small area of carpet around the beds so you won't have cold feet when getting out of bed. I read the reviews before I reserved this room and everyone was right. Excellent choice and the right price. I wished this room was at my destination where I was travelling. The main reason, the price, it was clean, and they didn't charge on my credit card a $50 "for incidentals" fee and then have the audacity to say that my "credit union charged that fee as a standard procedure" like the Marriott did in Columbus, OH; my destination for my seminar. WOW, is all I can say. This hotel was wonderful, updated and modern. We were so impressed with how the room looked we took pictures!! I always enjoy my stays at Red Roof Inn this one was the best so far, plus we had a complimentary breakfast at Big Boy!!

For my particular room, I did not see much difference between this place and the Hilton, as far as amenities. Very nice stay, would come again! Great place just outside Detroit.

We were very happy with the convenience and service at the Red Roof. Recent renovations were not quite complete but everything worked well for us. This was a local stay for us while our house underwent some upgrades.

The breakfast was not the classic continental fair--it allowed for a lot more flexibility. Hotel is being updated at the time of this writing and the changes I've seen bring it up to date. Drawback: no hair dryer in the room.

We needed a clean and friendly place to stay for one night for early morning appointment at the U of M Hospital and this worked out just fine. The area was good and the fact that a Big Boy was attached just made it better.

In a place that has a good deal of snow, there is no mat at the room door to soak up the melting water from your shoes.

We stayed at the Red Rood Inn based on ratings of other reviewers and due to its proximity to the VA. Overall, it was a decent place to stay. The desk clerk was helpful and the room was clean. Requested a non-smoking room. First room smelled of smoke. Offered another room that smelled even worse. This motel needs to have all of the interior fabrics and wall paint replaced to get rid of the smoke residue. Like airliners, they need smoke detectors that go off if someone actually violates the no smoking policy. The motel was a lot more comfortable and clean than I thought it would be and the neighborhood was fairly calm and quite quiet. The Housekeeping staff, on the other hand, were quite rude. We were repeatedly given dirty looks and plenty of attitude when we spoke to them. This is an inexpensive hotel that would be convenient for persons needing to get to University Hospital or North Campus. I was surprised to find it did not come with a hair dryer in the room, and it appeared to be a long walk to get to an ice dispenser. The room smelled musty and the pillows were lumpy. There was no hair dryer.

Close to U of M hospital. Staff was great. Simple, basics, just right. We will return to this Red Roof Inn.

great location, clean, friendly staff!

Not exactly a 5 star place, but our room had a nice look to it, like it had been recently painted and improved in terms of appearance. The surrounding neighborhood seemed nice and quiet; I ran for over an hour by myself, and did not ever feel worried for my safety. Remember to ask the front desk about your free meal at the adjoining Big Boy restaurant. […] Once again, it isn't glamorous fare, but it fills your belly and gets you on the road! Though I will say, there were a few "unsavory" characters hanging out and being quite crude at the Big Boy; this is the only bad aspect of our experience, but unfortunately, it was the one we left with! I recently stayed at the red roof and I found it pleasant. the rooms were clean and air-conditioned (nice because it was hot out!) the bathrooms were a little small but clean and got the job done. :0) I would stay there again.

For the price we paid, I expected the room my fiancee and I rented to be a little.... bleh. I was honestly surprised at how nice of a hotel this was. The employees were very friendly and helpful, and an entirely free breakfast at the Big Boy was something I can't complain about. The only problem was a toothpick was left on the headboard from the last […] guest, and I didn't feel the air conditioner was cold enough for an August stay (however, I even leave the AC running in winter so if you don't get hot easily, this is no problem for you). Overall, I would deffinately stay at this hotel again. It was close enough to give me a very short drive to see my sister who lives nearby, and was close enough to allow me to easily get to other attractions (especially needed the CVS next door at one point). Our room smelled like stale cigarette smoke (despite no smoking on premises) and old mold. They gave us a can of air freshener. The "continental breakfast" was at the attached Big Boy restaurant, which was awful. The decor was ugly and it was dirty. Not ever going back.

The rooms were expensive for the location. Doors open to the outside. No indoor hallways. No elevator. The hotel is dated. Free breakfast only included on item and one beverage.

the a/c unit was very noisy, resulting in my husband being awake most of the night. It was too hot to turn off (we had it on low). My bed had a long, curled up black hair on the top sheet. There was no coffee machine in the room or in the lobby. The hotel was attached to a Big Boy restaurant where we had a good, free breakfast. However, if you like […] us, need coffee first thing in the morning or if you need to travel early before the restaurant is open, you're out of luck. Vriendly and helpful management.

My stay was very delightful. Felt very comfortable. The hotel was very clean and the staff very curtious. Very quiet hotel. Close to resturaunts and access to Hwy 23.

Great spot right off main highway.Had a Big Boys with it,several eating places right across the road.Cv pharmcy right down the road.The right price for the Nascar race weekend,if I ever get back to M.I.S. will use this place again

Called ahead of time to see if we got have our rooms close together, none of them were, one on backside stairs, one main level back side, one upper level front side, not even close. Arrived to a room that was to be non smoking, it was awful, asked to be moved and yes was moved to another room. 2nd day came back from our all day outing to find out room […] door totally wide open, lap top still there, that was a good thing, cleaning lady must have left it open, complained at front desk, said they would pass to a manager, never heard from them, and then on the last morning upon checkout I asked for a receipt as we may need going across the boarder and was told that I would have to go back to expedia for that, I demaned a receipt of some short. The claim to provide breakfast and do so by providing a voucher to use at the adjacent Big Boy. My son and I stayed but they would only give us one voucher. I was told that kids stay free so they don't get to eat. I would have to pay for him. I will never stay at a Red Roof Inn again!!!

Clean, convenient motel, especially for business travel. Friendly desk manager. Attached Big Boy restaurant convenient for hot breakfast (free voucher gets selection from a limited menu). Free wi-fi. Convenient to UofM area, and lots of local restaurants and shopping plazas.
