The transportation to this motel is very convenient by just using the courtesy phone in the LAX airport when we arrived. The motel itself is nice and decent and worth its price. I was afraid that the noise of airplanes would be disturbing. Happily it was not. The continental breakfast and the restaurant are not bad either.

Visited Shelter in May 2010, the rooms are big and clean, in a reasonable price. The room is simple in a stylish way, quite comfortable. King size bed is good, you can get a good sleep there. It is in the Korean Town, located in the city. Location is quite convenient. Hotel provides free parking space at ground floor. The staff is friendly. It's a good place to stay in LA.

Located in high class beautiful Beverly Hill area. Walking distance to Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hill residential area. Very convenient and quiet. A small hotel with no lift or elevator to go upstairs, so have to carry luggage to the second floor. The staff are very helpful and nice. Facilities are basic but neat. Breakfast is basic. A little bit expensive but the location worths it. It is quite good as a last stop to relax and walk around, or to drive to anywhere. Bus stops are available outside the hotel going to Santa Monica or Hollywood area too.

Don't be fooled by the brand "Sheraton"--it's not. But if you can somehow sign up on the Internet to get a deal 60% of the real Sheraton, I wouldn't complain. it's close to the airport, with a nice shuttle service to LAX, but you have to be content with the Burger King nearby, because that is not only eating place within walking distance. I had dinner, and breakfast, and mostly the time i had the place to myself. Otherwise you need to shell pout 16 bucks for breakfast.

The hotel is GREAT ! From the lobby, the front desk, all the way to the room, everything is more than fine. Me and my wife are very impressed and we hope would have stayed longer -- we got there at 11:30PM and stayed for only one night. Gotta come to stay if we hit the city again.

The location, service, and ambiance of this hotel is magnificient. I couldn't ask for anything more! I big plus was the large bathtub with jacuzzi jets.
Was an abosolutely wonderful stay! We only stayed one night while waiting to go to Sydney. Everyone was so attentive. The spa was great and the services were as well! Highly recommend this hotel.
"Shutters - Fabulous but small pool and pricey"
Fabulous hotel, great location, excellent service. It is pricey and the pool is small (and not well heated). Other than that, we had a fabulous vacation.

We stayed in room 520 for my husband's 40th birthday! Beautiful ocean view room. Very pretty room. We really enjoyed our time at the hotel.

Room extremely small. Bathrooms old and not very functional. Coffee maker did not work. Help not very helpful and the staff at the desk and concierge all had Hollywood Attitudes....if you were not a star they couldn't be bothered.

"Gorgeous and quaint - for a price."
We absolutely loved staying at Shutters - somewhere I've wanted to stay for many years - because the service was excellent, location very scenic and rooms comfortable and beautiful. You feel like you're in your own little cottage even though you're in a hotel with many other rooms. Just tons of detail paid to the books on the shelves, spa amenities, […] linens and so on. The only thing that was not great was the noise. We were ready for some amount of street noise, given it's on the boardwalk in Santa Monica, but the noise from the plumbing was outrageous. There was a wedding at the hotel that night, which was handled well and no problem at all, but the folks returning to the hotel at 2am were noisy in the hallways (also understandable) and when they decided to take showers, we heard the plumbing rocketing through the walls as though we were in the boiler room of a old factory. It was extreme! When I asked my husband what he thought was making all the noise he couldn't even hear me well enough to respond. And it's not like we're ancient and need hearing aids - we're in our 30s. Anyway, after everyone took their (loud) showers and went to bed, we continued on with our very comfortable stay. "Not quite what I had hoped for..."
I have always wanted to stay at this hotel (I travel to LA for business about 10-12 times per year). I brought my wife for our 10th anniversary to see Cirque du Soliel at the Santa Monica pier. We stayed for two night and they moved to a hotel in West Hollywood. The price for the room was extremely expensive vs other high-end beach hotels in Santa […] Monica that I have stayed at. Even though they say that all rooms have balconies, our room was under-ground (similar to an egress window) with a view of a painted block wall. Amazingly, they stop serving food/drinks at the pool at 5pm...on a Saturday! It was a beautiful day, and they had no outdoor areas to eat or drink. So, we decided to rent bikes from the hotel and ride down the beach. We waited for the person at the rental counter for 15 minutes ("Be Right Back" sign) and he never showed up. The hotel is extremely nice, but I must say that I was very disappointed by my stay...very small room, no view, no outdoor dining or drinking, no one manning the rental stand, no service after 5pm at the pool (on a Saturday), etc. I guess I expected much more for the price. Overall, I would say that the hotel must primarily cater to older people. The hotel (and general area) is completely dead after 5pm. It was a Saturday night in early October, but it felt like the "off-season". I strongly recommend a high-end hotel in West Hollywood area over the hotel. Читати далі

"Excellent Hotel"
Everything was EXCELLENT! However, the safe in the room didnot work. The engineer never showed up to fix it. The drain in the jacuzzi was VERY VERY slow. I certainly would recommenf this hotel.

"Hübsches, in die Jahre gekommenes Strandhotel"
Sehr schön gelegenes, aber bereits etwas in die Jahre gekommenes, sogenanntes "traditionelles" Strandhotel. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Strand (Abstand bis zum Meer etwa 200m). Schöne Outdoor-Pool-Anlage - allerdings kein direkter Zugang zum Strand respektive zum Meer (bei der Rückkehr vom Strand muss der Gast - mit Badeanzug - den Weg durch den Haupteingang […] und die Lobby zum Pool suchen). Dass die Rückkehr auf die Zimmer nach dem Dinner im hoteleigenen Restaurant (nach 10pm) nur über einen Umweg (aussen um das Hotel herum) möglich ist, muss als mühsam bezeichnet werden. Eher kleine, nicht modern zu nennende Zimmer mit sehr hohen Betten. Sehr enge Hotelvorfahrt mit "mühsamem Stau". Sehr freundlicher Service. Читати далі
