The floor in our room was slanted so we felt like we were on a mo inv ship! The tv was at the side of the bed maki g it hard to view. The staff at the front desk were very nice.

We had a layover in Vancouver and found this hotel to be perfectly located to enjoy an easy walk and ferry boat ride (suggested by the lobby personnel) to Granville Island. The redecorated older hotel has a comfortable lobby and helpful staff.

We got a room on the 1st floor and apparently it was directly over a restaurant/club. We could hear the music all night, following by people in the alley throwing away glass bottles afterwards. ...it was a room. The location was perfect for what I needed, and the hotel itself was ok, the service was great. The maintenance men cleaned the elevators with something that was similar to gas, so it was a HUGE concern when I first stepped into the elevator, and was not happy with that chemical smell. The lounge downstairs was good, excellent hot […] wings. And at the end of the night, the heater didnt work, so they sent up a small plugin heater. I wasnt IMPRESSED but it was a good sleep. It was all great, however a friend came by for a drink in the lounge and had to pay approx. 2/3rds for 2 hours parking of what I paid for the whole night. I know parking on Granville is valuable but I think an accommodation for short visit friends of guests would have left me with a better feeling. Me and my Daddy had a very good stay! We enjoyed the coffee machines and the bed was very comforatable. There was lots of room for all our stuff and it was nice having a television in the room. Thank you.

Stayed for 2 nights inbetween trips, cheap simple gaff in good location for transport links. Basic hotel but always clean and friendly with good amenities. LCD tv, hair dryer etc

A bit noisy because of the location but it's super convenient if you're staying out late! The washroom was really bright and felt bigger than it really was (probably because it was painted all white).

Adequate, no-frills stay. Had small room with double bed; everything was pretty clean, but tv didn't work and neither did clock radio or the first set of key cards. Shower faucet didn't work beyond a certain point (could not get water as hot as I would have preferred on such a cold, rainy day, very disappointing). Neighbourhood is fine; lots of panhandlers […] and homeless, but that's par for the course in downtown Vancouver so can't criticize the hotel for that. DO NOT stay at the HoJo. The quality of service was the worst I have ever recieved while staying in Vancouver, and I frequent hotels in Vancouver, let's just say I will never be returning to this one. The employees at the front desk were rude and did not pay attention to us during our check in, we were not even told what room number we were staying […] in before we were shoved our keys with a quick abrupt "BYE" from the employee checking us in. The cleanliness of the room was okay, definitely happy that we brought some of our own blankets. If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable stay, I would look elsewhere. Читати далі

I rather enjoyed the lobby - very bright and comfortable in appearance. Nice staff. Upon entering my room, as I began setting up my things in the room, I noticed that there were crumpled pieces of paper, likely from the last person in the room. Odd, and somewhat worrisome that such blatantly obvious items would be left behind by the cleaning staff. […] I also was perterbed to notice that there were two space heaters in the room rather than regular heaters. One was broken and did not work at all but was still sitting on the desk, and the other - an electric radiator - had a broken handle. The room was freezing, so I clearly had to use one... Sort of super sketchy. Once finally settled into the (admittedly) comfortable bed, I had to set, reset and reset again my internet. I eventually got frustrated of calling down to the desk to ask them for a new password every fifteen minutes when it's supposed to last until 1pm the next day and just went to sleep. Two shampoos and no conditioner available in the bathroom, mouldy smell. Not terribly impressed and probably will not return... though again, the staff were very kind and funny! Читати далі

We were in Vancouver to go out and it was a perfect location for us. Room was small but the bed was comfortable. Very basic but that was all we were looking for. I would stay again for the location.

I came to Vancouver for an exam and needed to stay overnight. The HJ hotel is right in the middle of downtown, the price is very reasonable, and the room was clean. The street was a little noisy with night club crowd. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel was great except that the bar crowd kept me awake until 3 AM. My room faced out to Granville Street, so next time I'll ask for a different room than 116.

Nice and small hotel. Friendly staff. Only downside is that it's right beside a night club so when we stayed, on a Saturday night, we could here bass from electronic music until 3:30. But it is on Granville, which has a huge nightlife.

l enjoyed my stay at howard johnsons , the staff where polite and helpfull, the rooms where clean , the location was very close to the hospital that l had appointments with and was also very close to the sky train 4 blocks walk and a fast trip to the airport , just a great location , with lots of local resturants near by with an excellent choice of […] foods . Outdoor parking lot is conveniently next door to entrance, costing $15/night. Couldn't sleep due to noise from disco (stereo system and people talking). Window covering would not close so street lights shone into room all night. Heater fan was very loud--either on for a noisy warm room or off for a less noisy cold room. No ammenities area. very over priced for just a bed and sub par service. the people at the front desk barely speak english and never want to help. a better stay for the same price is the Holiday inn 2 blocks away.

You get what you pay for - I understand that. But I do expect heat!! Our room was freezing when we arrived, but they had a small space heater on the table which took off the chill. When we arrived back after going out, we turned the heater back on. Then the breaker blew- no lights no heat, no power in our room! It was turned back on quickly enough, […] but we slept with no heat all night. And the same thing in the morning. I brushed my teeth in the dark and we left before 7am. This hotel is quite well situated for most of the city's amenities, although it is not on a particularly pleasant street or corner. The room was very clean and all the staff I met were pleasant. Ok, so the room is as basic as it gets and it is small however this hotel is located on Granville St right before the pub/club district starts and also has a bus stop right outside the front. Very convenient for all attractions in Vancouver if you want to go on foot or by public transport.

This hotel is located on busy Granville St which in the evening is very lively and teeming with action. Nightclub next door will ROCK you to sleep for sure. I was not Dissapointed by the size of the room nor the bathroom . Both clean. Just decoration is more for a grandmother taste. Location wise very good . Close by Yaletown sky train station (walking distance)

Pros : Great location, good guest service Cons: Very small rooms - I understand Hotel room are designated to be compact and sufficient but their regular rooms are uncomfortably small odor - All the hallways smell have this cleaning chemical odor as well their rooms. It was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was so small the key cards worked when they felt like it, the place was old and smelly, no parking when we first got there. I will never stay at any howard johnsons ever again

The hotel was fine except for the very strong smell of carpet deodorizer in all of the hallways and stairwells. It was quite overwhelming.

Having very limited parking available to the hotel is a very big deterrent in my mind. We had to drive around the vicinity for at least an hour to find parking elsewhere, since all parking at the Howard Johnson had been filled up by the time we got there. We were only staying one night at this hotel; however, if we were staying in town any longer, […] we probably would have booked at another hotel. Inside our room was clean, the bed was okay, but their heating system was one of those portable ones that sit on the window sill, and when turned on, it was quite noisy. We ate in their restaurant. I ordered a spinach salad, and I could not finish it because they had drenched it with a sickingly sweet bottled dressing. Then, because I was still hungry, I ordered some potato skins. These were fine. The restaurant did not offer to reverse the charge for the salad, even though I had explained to them why I couldn't eat it. Taking into account the above, this hotel is affordable to stay in downtown Vancouver, but if you're looking perhaps for nicer surroundings, I would recommend elsewhere in the city. Читати далі

Very accessible location. Not luxurious but clean and efficient. Grandville St is a little run down, but the hotel is probably the best option for the price in that area.

If you are looking for a certain price-point in a convenient area of Vancouver then you may consider this good value. We walked into our room and the first thing we felt compelled to do, considering its appearance, was to check for bedbugs. It ended up being quite clean, but we had a large musty water-soaked spot on the carpet from the antiquated air […] conditioner. Room was not reedy when promised - and the front dek clerk neglected to even communicate with the cleaning staff, which we did ourselves, to find out that it HAD been ready when we checked in! Tiny rooms, badly in need of updating - supports the saying "you get what you pay for"! The rooms are definitely not as pictured on their website. Note - no covered parking. Читати далі
