Stay was terrible..noisy area..black mold in bathtub.....no parking..streets packed with noisy partiers. only thing good was the friendly stafff.

The whole area is much more amped up than 20 years ago and this hotel reflects that atmosphere. The staff were nice and helpful but we were put in the handicap room, told there was nothing they could do. Overall, this is a fine hotel but if you want a more spphisticated experience, avoid SoBe and / or maybe find a more upscale hotel.

Ceiling paper thin. People stomping around at 4 am. Furniture, TV and boom box from Goodwill. Worst shower ever, difficult to regulate, difficult stream. No soap. Bed left over from the art deco age. Ourtageously overpriced. I can't believe I paid top rate for that.

It's a nice hotel in a great spot and it has a lot of charm. The movies that were filmed here and the celebrity ownership are cool, although I didn't know about them when I booked our stay. We spent 3 nights in the hotel and have no regrets doing so. Other than having a small bathroom with a tiny sink, the room was very comfortable and the staff was friendly.

My stay at the hotel was great! I would recommended for couples and friends. The staff was also very pleasant. Located in front of the beach and close to all restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

Best thing about the hotel, is the proximity to most areas a 1st time tourist would want to visit. No coffee pots in the rooms... REALLY! Who doesn't need their coffee fist thing in the morning? If you plan to stay at the hotel, I recommend taking your own coffee pot and coffee. Also, a reviewer did mention the location of the faucets in the shower […] (behind a sink backplash wall) pretty much need to get in the tub to set your shower. I took a chance. I was down for a convention in august on business. Normally stay at Loews. Sold out. Read the reviews on cordoza and booked. Check in was efficient and friendly. Room was excellent. My only real gripe was that the bathroom door wouldn't close and the fan didn't work. They had a safe in the room but no vending and the mini bar was empty. […] Had to pay $5.50 for a diet coke. We only ate breakfast but it was pretty good. Security was non existent. I think anyone could have wandered in and had the run of the hotel. With the amount of street and bar traffic it made me nervous. The only person who acted like they knew you were a guest was at the front desk. The valet service was awful. The rooms were small, yet extremely clean. Location was the best. We didn't dine at the hotel, but the food seemed as if it may have been good. They charge for everything even the water. Yes 6.00 per bottle! But hey, it is Miami. I would book at the Cardozo again in the future.

One major issue for me tough..cockroaches!!! I killed at least 5 of them during our 3 night stay at the hotel. I was extremely pleased with the location. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was very clean. The size of the room was very comfortable for me and a friend to move around freely and sleep comfortably in the bed.

Cardozo room was sparse and bathroom tiny and not well kept. Had an interior room that was quiet; only plus. Disappointed in the evolution of Ocean Drive. This hotel was set on the best location on Ocean Drive. All of the sights, beach, restaurants, clubs, etc. were all just a couple steps away! But, there are always cons with the pros... The things we didn't like was the odd smell of the room, the view of the dumpster & the next building looking out of our window from the 2nd floor, & VALET PARKING was […] pricey & a horrible inconvenience after we checked out (considering there was a gay pride parade on Ocean Drive & parking wasn't allowed). As for the rate of the room for that weekend wasn't too bad. It could've been $100 cheaper considering the room was no bigger than 200 sq. ft., but I must say the robe, the bed & pillows were so comfortable! Other than that, the hotel staff were friendly & willing to assist/help & room service was good. Great location which is why we booked. Overpriced for the quality of the hotel, guess we paid for the convenience of location. We had ROACHES and woke up with bug bites. It's up to you of you want to book depending on your preference on location or quality of hotel.

I´ve stayed at many hotels around the world, some very expensive and some not so expensive. But this is the best stay I´ve ever had in any of the hotels so far. We where lucky to have a large room at the corner of the Art Deco building, and the the room and the huge window had a rounded wall against the seafront. Perfect bed, perfect bathroom. Upon arrival we were sent around the block twice to find the valet. When we finally found a valet in front of the Cardozo sign we gave him our keys. Turned out it was a valet for a different hotel. The 1st staff person we dealt with was mediocre. We arrived early, checked our bags in then went to the beach until check in. Only 2 out of 3 bags made it to our room and 3 phone calls and 1 hour later we still had not received our bag. My husband had to go down and retrieve it. We also had a 3 drip leak from our air conditioning vent in the closet […] that created a pool on the floor. Concerned about bugs and not being able to sleep, we called the front desk back. I was cut off and told my bag was en route after giving my room number. 2 hours later (after returning from dinner) the issue was still not resolved. The new front dek attendant had been informed by staff that the vent had been fixed. Not only did he confront that staff member but gave us a choice of 2 rooms to stay in, our choice. He called our cab when we were to leave and was the only pleasant staff person we encountered. As far as the rooms, they were ok. All the money was spent on the hotel lobby. The room was beautiful, but small. The bed was very comfortable. The colors were warm and inviting. It was right on the main drag across the street from the beach so we could get to everything very easily. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. The bathroom could use some remodeling because there were little cracks in the grout on the floor, […] but this was pretty minor. I felt the hotel was everything i expected it to be and more after reading lots of reviews. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because these boutique hotels on the beach have small rooms (especially when you get the standard, basic room) and the view out of our windows was either a very close building or a parking gargage. I knew that I couldn't expect the fanciest hotel in the world this close the beach in this price range so, again, I got exactly what I expected and I was very, very pleased. This hotel was unique, design and accomodations.Location was the best, in the heart of South Beach. Left some tops and some jewelry in the drawer and they mailed it to me intact and without charge,totally awesome. Tjhe only fault is that walls are paper thin, could hear anything from other rooms.

Nice clean hotel in the heart of the art deco district of south beach. Service was good and the staff were friendly. Rooms were dark-paneled which gave a nice look to the room. I paid for ocean view room which gave a very nice view of the water. Nice little area on the side to relax but no pool- of course the beach is right there so this wasn't needed […] for me. If your looking for a pool at an ocean front area you will need to look for a larger potentially very expensive hotel a bit outside the art deco area. Nice, clean room in a great location - right in the heart of South Beach. Parking is expensive; either using the hotel's valet parking or the Municipal parking garage next door on 13th ave, although that's a lot cheaper than the valet parking. No pool. Although the hotel is ideally located, is well maintained, and had an adequate staff, the sound insulation between rooms and to the hallways was nonexistent! Following check-in, I settled into the room, unpacked, and laid down for a quick cat nap. Less than 15 minutes later, I heard conversation, the TV from the adjacent room, and a vacuum cleaner in […] the hallway, which told me this was NOT going to be a good place in which to sleep. I called down to the front desk, and asked him to check into the additional cost it would be for me to also inhabit the corner room, which was adjacent via a connecting set of doors to my room. I thought if I could have both rooms, I might stand a chance of getting some sound insulation. I asked him to please give me the best rate possible, as I was willing to pay extra just to be able to sleep. Over 45 minutes later, he recontacted me asking what it was I wanted him to do. SO, starting over, I once again explained my idea of getting the corner room added to my room for a suite of rooms. He said he'd check w/his manager and get back to me. Another 1/2 hr. after that, he once again contacted me saying the room next to mine was an 'upgraded' room, and the cost would be MORE than what I had paid for the room I was in. I asked if that would still be the case, even if I kept my current room. You guessed it, he said he'd have to ask and call me back later. Okay, I believe this might not have been a 'normal' request, and perhaps he didn't understand me the first time, but after the 2nd time as well? Anyway, he was courteous enough, but in the end, he did finally 'get it', and called me to say that the best he could do would be to match the price of the room I was already in to have both of them. Mind you, the hotel was not nearly sold out, and I told him I'd be writing this very review if he were unable to do better than that. He said "Sorry!" So, sorry! This hotel was in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the beach, and within walking distance to many of the hot spots on Collin's Ave. Also surrounded by great places to eat, a quick 5-10minute walk to Lincoln Rd. I stayed at the Cardozo hotel and it is a very nice hotel, very centrally located in South Beach. I opted to spend a bit extra (plus taxes) for an ocean view room, but I hardly had an ocean view. I stayed in room 307 and while it was a gorgeous room, there were so many trees and plants grown up in front of the windows that we hardly got any daylight […] let alone a view of the ocean.
