We checked in early and they upgraded our room to a suite with warm chocolate chip cookies to welcome us. It was a great way to be comfortable in a nice area close to NYC without all the commotion of the city.

The customer service at this hotel was great! All of the workers were very cheery and accommodating- something that is very hard to find! The bed was SO comfortable and the room was very clean and spacious. This hotel is a short walk away from plenty of dining options and a mall- which is perfect for anything last min. you may have forgotten. The mall […] also has a movie theater. Absolutely GREAT stay. very nice hotel. great location, and easy access to manhattin, .the staff is very friendly, and help full. with information, about how to get around new york. and supplied subway and city maps. of newyork.the room was cleaned and made up daily.will return

I've been to this hotel roughly four years ago. It was fine then (hence the return) but BOY they've done a lot of work to the place. We were with five in one room (can't do that everywhere by the way), two double beds and a sofa bed, intention was to sleep in between excursions to NYC. The hotel is extremely comfortable albeit no complimentary breakfast, […] there is however a reasonably priced and excellently stocked breakfast buffet. There is a free shuttle to the nearby PATH station - so nearby in fact that the shuttle really isn't necessary. I don't know if you can arrange shuttle pickup because we just walked back. The PATH is cheaper than the NYC subway at $1.75 I think it was, and runs frequently to either World Trade Center or along 33rd Street. The staff was friendly and curteous, the hotel certainly underwent MAJOR renovations the past four years, and it looks really recent to me. Room was spacious. Only minor complaint was that internet access was NOT free in the room ($12/hour or some such), though you could access for free downstairs. Microwave, refrigerator and coffee machine with some complimentary coffee and tea. Staff was very friendly and I want to specifically target the outside parking/valet staff and the shuttle driver, awesome fellows all. I would absolutely stay here again! The only disappointment was that the room was lacking a view, so if you are looking forward to one, be sure to verify ahead of time. And the valet parking wasn't quite valet, so just be prepared to pay to park.

The staff was quite helpful. They have a shuttle M-F to get you around nearby and to and from transit in and out of NYC. (They said they will expand it to weekends soon.) Room (suite) was great as it provided two distinct (though not walled) spaces so my 2 year old could sleep and we could still have space too.

Overall I was very satisfied with this hotel. The staff was courteous and receptive. My room was clean and comfy. The beds are to die for and who can say no to warm cookies?

the location was very nice and close to a lot of restaurants and shopping and PATH train to NY. it was a nice hotel for a reasonable price and will probably stay there again in the future.

My husband and I went to visit our daughter who had just moved from Manhattan to Jersey City and I must admit with all the late night comic's jokes about Jersey were weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. The area around the Doubletree Hotel is newly renovated with a beautiful marina, many restaurants, and a great shopping mall. And […] it is only a short distance to the Path train to get right into the heart of Manhattan within minutes. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and spacious. The hotel is in the process of renovations so there is some construction noise, but the soundproofing was good enough that it was barely audible. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Please note this hotel is under construction and so is the large condo unit next door. Pretty loud. It must be still popular because when we checked in we could only get smoking rooms. No non smoking rooms were available.

We were staying at the Doubletree to attend the New York City Marathon. We had a great time and would highly recommend to all. Location was great. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Check-in was quick and easy.

After searching for an affordable hotel to stay in for a weekend trip to NYC, I was somewhat shocked at the tiny rooms and high prices. My brother recommended the Hotel Doubletree in Jersey City as an alternative, and we loved it! Instead of a tiny room, we got a spacious suite - living room, bedroom and bathroom. It was too bad that we didn't understand […] the subway better, or we could have saved on at least one expensive cab ride. When we finally asked about it, Felix at the front desk explained it so well that even we understood it! Everyone we dealt with at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, especially Felix, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome, and was full of compliments when we went out to the party we had gone to NYC for. We arrived from JFK, so it was a rather expensive car ride to the hotel, but the price of the hotel room, and the price of flying Jet Blue, more than made up for the price of the car rides. We were greeted with the BEST chocolate chip cookie I've ever had, and even though we arrived an hour or so before check-in, it was no problem at all - we were settled in our room within around 15 minutes of arriving. The suite was large and sunny, and the beds and pillows were VERY comfortable. Since we were on the 3rd floor, I didn't have to pay for internet as we were close enough to the lounge's free wi-fi, which was a bonus, as I don't think in this day and age, one should have to pay for wi-fi at a hotel. We did not get to check out the restaurant/bar, as it never seemed to be open when we were there, and the gift shop was kind of a joke. However, within walking distance was a large grocery store, as well as a mall. The grocery store had everything, including beer/wine, and a mini-Dunkin Donuts! If you are going to be going to NYC, the PATH train is an easy 2 or 3 blocks away. We really couldn't have asked for more in the way of conveniences close by. I apparently reserved a 2 queen smoking room which is not what I wanted. The lady at the desk was very nice and quickly changed it and upgraded to a King size suite! She then called to make sure everything is fine....i will definitely go again.

This hotel had everything we were looking for-cleanliness (no bed bugs!), convenience to NYC, and a pretty decent price. The room was spacious and comfortable (not that we spent much time in it). Best of all, it was a five minute walk to the PATH train, which got us to midtown in 15 minutes. The construction is a bit of a drag, but is certainly not […] a deal breaker. i would go back just for the cookies!!! lol... but seriously, it'spretty clean, comfortable, i would go again. However, if you're going to spend your time in new york, manhattan and such, you don't want to be paying the bridge toll everyday!!! it's expensive!

We were greeted and checked in very quickly. Friendly staff, clean room, and pleasant surrounding area. Very close to the light rail. Hotel is currently undergoing construction, so weekdays may be noisy, but not when we were there on a Saturday night. Very pleasant stay.

We spent 3 nights on the weekend for a visit of New York. Road access was easy. Hotel is 3 blocks away from the Path train, very convenient to access New York. Hotel is nice, confortable rooms, secure parking, good service.

The hotel was difficult to find because of construction in the area. The parking attendants were extremely rude to us and the hotel charged us $20 to park! After paying what we did, parking should have been free. What a rip off! Also, the parking attendants wouldn't let us charge the parking to the room (even though we were told in the morning that […] would have been fine) The room was comfortable, but with a view of a beautiful brick wall. This hotel is very nice and cheaper than the ones in Manhattan. Neighborhood is nice. But the Path train has a limited schedule after 9 pm so it can take you a while to get to the hotel from NYC.

Stayed at this hotel because of its proximity to new York City without the price. Great rooms and couldn't beat the price. Short walk to the path train and at Penn Station in less than 20 minutes. Very pleased... Will stay here again!

We stayed here because it was within easy walking distance to the Newport-Pavonia PATH station and access to NYC. Due to nearby construction, finding entry into the hotel was a little tricky, but otherwise check-in went well. The clerk was friendly and provided us a corner room when she saw there were 5 of us. The room was clean and large. The bathroom […] was also clean and large. The beds were comfortable. Though air conditioning was inefficient -- we were in the area during 100+ degree temperatures -- the room was never uncomfortably warm. One of windows provided a good view of Manhattan. We used the free WiFi in the lobby without trouble. All in all, it was an excellent place to stay for a trip into NYC. Power Cut on the last day and there is no room service after Day 1 of the stay.

Very very nice hotel. Clean, friendly, professional. Comfortable room and bed. Great location in NJ even if you are sight-seeing in NYC. We would stay again!

Perfect for getting to Liberty State Park!

Pleasant, efficient staff. Large room, comfortable, clean. Convenient to Path train to NYC - 2 block walk or shuttle ride. 10 minute train to NYC! very nice stay - would definitely stay again.

the location was not so good but the people there were so kind. there is no pool here. there is a big grocery store where you can buy everything cheap, however, it was kinda scary to cross the railway and then a parking lot which took about 5 minutes especially in the night. so buy them before you come back to hotel for your safety. next to the store, […] there is a car center, which is useful to know when you are travelling by a car. Every staff person we encountered was friendly and helpful. The rooms were quite comfortable and clean. There are two light rail stops, COSI for coffee/breakfast, Cuban, Indian, and Italian restaurants within easy walking distance. Compared to the other nearby hotels we've stayed at, this one is the best.

The room had quite some space (suite), was clean and the beds were comfortable. Absolutely no complains about the room! The Desk-staff was helpful and friendly, very knowledgeable as well. Everyone from valet parking, cleaning staff up to the manager always had friendly words and a smile. All in all it was a joy to stay at this hotel. Awesome location. Not too far from two light rail stations, a few minutes from the PATH station to go into NYC, the mall a stone's throw away. Only problem was that I reserved a queen size bed and received a full sized bed and there was a very subtle odor in the room; didnt really mind though, spent most of the time in the city and crashed as soon as […] we got to our hotel.
