The hitel is right next to bercy metro so great for tourists. Hotel is tired and needs a lick of paint. Lift was out of order and we were given a room on the top floor not good when you have heavy bags to carry and the stairs are spiral and steep. Great location as hotel fronts the entry to the Bercy Metro stop. Fact there was no deadbolt or other security measure on the door was a bit disconcerting to my daughter. Beds were only average for level of comfort (old beds). The food in the dining room for breakfast was average, but fresh. Staff at front desk was helpful and attentive. Clean sheets and bathroom, room was renovated but still had large stains on carpet and walls. Breakfast was good, elevator a bit wonky. Right next to metro, good last minute place to stay for the night.

We stayed here for 6 nights for our 2012 Christmas holiday vacation. The rooms while clean are dark, stuffy and extremely uncomfortable for upright walking. Because of the beams, which I was aware of from the reviews and hotel description, and the slant of the ceiling, it is virtually impossible to walk around freely in the room without watching your […] head to avoid head bumps. Also, although there is a bathtub, they did not have any stoppers for the tub and if you opt for the shower, you have to manipulate the hose so that water is not all over the bathroom floor. I prefer baths so after two days/nights of fighting with the shower, I figured out that I could turn the sink stopper upside down and use it as a bathtub stopper; for the most part it worked and I was able to sit in a tub of water. later my husband decided to use the disposable plastic cups provided as a bathtub stopper and I must say that that option worked even better than mine. The hotel staff, especially the staff working the breakfast was very friendly. As for the location, for us as a family, it was definitely not the best choice. The location is in Bercy and away from everything! True it is close to the Metro station, but when travelling with a stroller and 3 year old, it would of been so much easier to be closer to some of the sights,a s this location was too many stops away from the places we wanted to visit and ended up just taking more time out of our already busy, fun-filled days of activities. Me and my partner booked a superior room. This does not mean superior what it means is your room is located at the back of the building and not at the front. Not an improved room which I thought by the photos. We fortunately were upgraded to a luxury room but I would not class this as luxury this would be a 3 star superior room. Really disappointed. […] Our friends we were with had the superior room. The room was very small and right on the stairs so they heard everything. The rooms are not sound proof as described and not a 4 star. The hotel brochure states it as a 3 star. I questioned the staff to the room they had as it was basic and very small not superior as we would describe. As I say superior has no meaning it goes on rooms being located at front or the back of the hotel. The rooms we had did not look like the nice pictures you see when you book. The carpets in my friends room was dirty. I would pay extra and stay at the Novotel Hotel instead. I don't like to complain but when you pay what we did and the extra for a superior room it is very frustrating and disappointing. Lift did not work the whole 3 night stay. Friendly staff, excellent room (spotlessly clean) and and a good quality breakfast buffet. Also, there is a large pleasant residents lounge / reading room complete with morning papers. I'm used to American hotels... where I get more space, an AC, and a non-handheld shower... well that's not how the areas of Europe I've been to work. You get a very tight hotel room, a radiator (and the window for cooling), and a handheld shower. It's kinda neat. That's exactly what the Claret had. All in all, for the price the room was certainly large […] enough and I spent little time there so it wasn't an issue, though I really miss having an AC. The room was certainly clean enough and the location of the hotel was perfect (chosen because it is 4 minutes away from the Palais at Bercy), so perfect that it could have made up for any shortcomings. The only real downside was coming back to the hotel around 1-2 am and having no one at the front desk to let you in... you have to sit and wait for a few. when two of our party fell victim to pickpockets [nowhere near this district,which is v.safeowing to proximity of vast ministry of finance ]the staff were hugely helpful.The restaurant was also run by a charming man and the food good.

We spent 4 nights here and were happy with everything. The hotel is in a business district, but it's two stops on the metro to the center of Paris, and the metro is just outside the door. Quiet location. Nice staff. Comfortable, clean room. Great value!!

Right next to Barcy subway station which has lines that cover the north and south banks of Paris, so it is easy to get around. However, the hotel was not in create maintenance. Safe was broke and we were asked to leave keys at the desk, so I did not feel safe leaving anything in the room

Rooms & breakfast were all alright. Staff pretty friendly and spoke English happily. Handily close to the Metro - the quick line into the centre so it didn't matter being a little way out. Internet didn't work in the hotel, room a little smaller than expected for an upgrade. No real surprises good or bad.

great place to stay. Very convenient-metro 14 is right there. Ideal place to stay if you're going to a concert at Bercy! ! Rooms are small, just like anywhere else in Paris, but very functional. The hotel is good. The hotel is kind of far from the main attractions in the city, and the carpet is dirty. But in general it is a good option to stay, especially because they have a very decent breakfast included in the price per night and the metro station is very close.

Warm, classic small Paris hotel, a bit of a walk from the Gare, not a great location but a good value. Really friendly/helpful staff. Nice remodeled bathroom, but as usual in France, no shower curtain or enclosure - have never figured how you take shower without drowning the entire room!

Good location at Bercy Metro station. Noisy road and railway from Gare de Lyon but windows provide good soundproofing. Desk and breakfast service good. Room good standard, modernised and comfortable.

The hotel location is near the city center and 1 block from the subway. There is parking available at the hotel that is not at all obvious or accessible until after you check in and park at a car park that is highway robbery. I think its really good place to stay for couple of days. We stayed there three night and its really great stay. Staffs were friendly, very close to the station and only around 15mins from city center and good metro and bus connection.

quick one night stay to catch early train was okay. elevator was broke had to walk 3 flights with luggage. Bkfst was good...rooms were clean and okay. Nothing fancy.

Hotel is near train station and metro. A little pricey for what you get. Rooms were small but comfortable and quiet. Bathroom was adequate with a good shower. Breakfast buffet was good. Hotel staff was friendly. Location not the greatest to visit Paris as most tourist spots are far away.

Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotel staff very helpful. Great location with a Metro pass. Upgrade your room if going in the summer for AC or at least facing the back garden area for opening the window, as the front of the buiding has traffic noise. We were here in October so it did not matter.

Good hotel and handy for metro. Comfortable room, although compact. We had room at rear hotel so nice and quiet. Room would have got full marks, but for the one electrical socket - would have been better if we hadn't had to swap electrical items around for charging. Good strong wifi. Plenty of eating places nearby.

Some of the other reviews extol the virtue of beautiful rooms and air conditioning. That only applies to the top floor where rooms are a little more expensive. Overall, the Hotel Claret was a good value. Positives include the included breakfast, free Wi-Fi, reasonable rate, friendly staff and closeness to the Metro. Detractions included small rooms […] and closet (no surprise for Europe), only one electrical outlet and no AC (in my room). Both good and bad included the neighborhood amenities and other guests. Very nice queen bed, lovely bathroom renovated and surprisingly spacious for Paris. Loved the WiFi and AC. Outstanding breakfasts. Overall worth the stay, despite location a little out from center in Bercy.

The hotel is small but conveniently located about 10 minute walk to the Seine. In addition, two train stations: Gare de Lyon and Gare de Bercy as well as an underground Metro station are in walking distance which made it easy to reach all the tourist attractions in Paris within 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately the room was a too small for a queen size bed […] which made storage a problem; however the bathroom had been renovated. The breakfast which was included was excellent.
