good location,but the roon is very small,have not balcony

The location, cost and accommodations were great. A few steps away from a major square, metro and tons of restaurants. We could not have asked for anything better. In addition, their was WiFi access in the room.

Perfect location to walk to many great sites. Staff was friendly and helpful. Recommend taking the car service offered for transport to and from the airport (22 euro one way - not per person - as of April 12 2012). Can also take metro rail for 2.50 euro per person but change trains 2 times and may have to carry luggage up or down steps as not all stops […] have escalators for all areas. The hotel is located in the historical and geographical center of the city. The metro entrance just 20 meters away from the hotel. You can reach Royal Palace and Prado by walk. My room was very comfortable and beautiful, with balcony. Wi-fi is provided in the public areas, but it was also available in my room. This is a fantastically located hotel, right in the heart of Madrid, next to the Sol Metro station, all the main shopping and nightlife districts. The hotel itself was well furnished, with good quality fixtures and fittings, nice power shower, reasonably comfortable beds and knowledgeable and helpful staff. The location was perfect. The staff were very good and spoke English. The rooms were really tiny but that seems to be the norm. I would definitely stay here again.

My wife is very picky, and this hotel was incredible in location, staff friendliness, the bathroom impecable, the rooms a bit small but comfortable, The breakfast buffet and the staff serving it just splendid. The Hotel is right in front of Plaza del Sol, the very, very center of Madrid, easy short walk to Plaza Mayor and beatiful small Plaza Santa […] Ana. The fountain Cibeles is very famous and beautiful, only 4 minutes bus ride or 15 minutes walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room and bathroom were spacious, very clean, quiet and the location was perfect!

If you don't care what your hotel looks like, you just want to be in a fantastic location, this is the place. It's just steps from Puerto del Sol and Calle Arenal which it's on has great shopping & restaurants. This hotel is located right on plaza del sol in Madrid. They say the rooms come with wifi but on the third floor you can only get signal by the door. Not the most comfortable spot to write emails. Other than that the rooms are clean and nice. make sure to get non smoking room unless you like smelling stale ashtrays all night

The hotel is great! Right in front of Purta Del Sol and about 10 to 15 minute walk to most tourist sites. its also easy access to the metro only seconds away. The hotel is nice inside and very clean. The only thing that was a bit annoying is the cleaning staff. They wouldn't knock before entering the room to clean it, even after I put the "don't disturb" […] sign on my door. If you are driving beware there is no parking and the lot is 30 euros a night. It is a pain in the but location like being dropped in Time square but 10 times worse. There is no body soap and the towels are hard as hell.....We had booked 5 nights left in 3 nights...... Moderno is right in "Sol," so rooms facing the square get bombarded by boisterous crowd noise all night long.

rooms are very clean Service is very good, friendly & helpful staff. Room are a little small but very clean. Great location, walk out of the hotel and you are in the mid-stream of Midrid. This hotel is few steps from Puerta del Sol, it is very well maintained and very clean

Staff nice enough; excellent location - only 2 changes on the metro from airport. Room was too small though and stifingly hot at night; if you get a cheap internet room then it appears you get the room next to a lift with a tiny courtyard view. Air Con did not work so to try and sleep it was necessary to open the windows which did not open far enough […] and exposed you to a lot of noise. shutter did not go further than a quarter of the way up meaning a very uncomfortable night's sleep. I was in Barcelona & Ibiza.......I love Hotel Moderno in Madrid because its the best location.....in the heart of Madrid....its so convenient to all the shopping districts and 10 mins walk to the Royal Palace & free tours!!! Best location posible, hundreds of restaurants within two hundred yards, close walking distance to all the mayor sites and museums. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice clean room and bathroom.

Located right at the Plaza del Sol, Hotel Moderno has the perfect location. It is clean, the staff is great and quite helpful. Avoid to morning breakfast, as you can get cheaper and better eats just outside the door. The only complaint I had was the fact that the relatively small rooms do not have much privacy. Hotel Moderno is very well located. You can walk anywhere you want if you like to. But rooms 8at least my room) are very small. Bed is definitely not for two and if you have two suitcases then you can't walk in the room. Rooms are not very clean but ok. If the price is ok, you could stay here but first try other alternatives

Walls are paper thin, and window- single panel glass- thus, no insulation from internal and street noise. If you need to open window for a fresh air- then you can not hear anythign inside of the room- that is so noisy, and thatpart of Madrid is noisy 24/7. Do not expect to get a decent sleep in this hotel. Window and window curtains are dirty felthy, […] curtains needs to be replaced- worn out and torn. Room is of size of the stateroom cabin- like if you would be on the cruise ship. "King" size bed is actually barely Full size of US bed. Towels are like sand paper- rough and scratch your skin- may be as well used as 'exfoliating' tool. Breakfast- 10euro- did nto try- more opportunities outside of the hotel. Great location walking distance to Plaza Mayor, train station, etc. At nights there was plenty to do around the neighborhood, no need for a car. Friendly staff. Our only complaint which is a very important one is that in some hotels in Europe they turn off the air conditioning in fall/winter. Hotel is right at the metro stop "SOL" which is very central. Easy walk to Prado and Plaza Mayor. Area is busy, noisy but lots of energy with tourists and locals. Hotel is small, rooms small so if you are a larger person this may not be the place for you. Reception staff barely spoke any english and our spanish was rusty but we got our needs met.

Yes, the hotel room was clean and had a window, but the room's window looked out at an external elevator for the hotel and nothing else. This was disappointing. Otherwise a very friendly and helpful staff!

I am sure I requested breakfast in my reservation. however I was told that I did not. Breakfast in Madrid is different so this was a point of disappointment. Otherwise the staff was wonderful.

The positive about this hotel is it's location - very central to everything and right in the middle of the Puerta del Sol. The windows are fabulous in that they block out the noise from the busy streets. The rooms are small, but charming none the less. I also want to highlight a fabulous staff - Chela (Consuelo) who went out of her way to help us up […] and beyond what was necessary. She is wonderful!!!! I used this hotel twice during my stay in Spain (at the beginning and the end as I flew out of Madrid). However.... the downside of this hotel is that the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything from your neighbors if they are loud. The people next door to us yelled, laughed, screamed, sang, etc. until 2:00 a.m. The housecleaning was also not the best and some of the staff (aside from Chela) were not very helpful at all. Be aware that there is construction going on in front of the hotel right now as well. Something to watch out for is that on the first day of our stay one of the staff told us that breakfast was included. When we checked out, we were charged. I think the breakfast is included only if you book directly with them, but not if you use a booking service - so be aware of this. Also, the taxi drivers are the WORST in Madrid - in that they are sneaky and will charge you unethically. Be sure to ask the hotel to arrange a shuttle for you to return to the airport. The cost was 26 euro. Our first taxi ride to the airport cost us 56 euro and I believe the taxi driver drove to the outshirts of town to get more $$$ from us. Again - arrange for the shuttle once you check into the hotel (it requires at least 24-48 hrs in advance). So, it you get a room with quite neighbors and Chela is working - you will have a fabulous stay. Otherwise - there will be some bumps for you. Читати далі

Though noisy at night (I was on the street side), you can walk out the front door and with a few blocks walk to Prado, the Sol Metro is right in front of your doorway and if I had known more about the Metro, I certainly would have taken far more advantage of it. Hotel Moderno couldn't be in a better location! The hotel and rooms were very nice. The only problem I had was that the outlets did not work with my power adapter and I wasn't able to use the wi-fi to do my work. The front desk wasn't very helpful with trying to help me solve this problem.

Only issue was that I asked for a room with a balcony when I checked in and they said none were available, but the hotel seemed half-empty. It's possible the rate I paid excepted me from having a room with a view. Also, beware of the cost from the airport to the hotel - cabs from the Madrid airport are very expensive! Een goed hotel wat midden in het centrum ligt. Musea en andere bezienswaardigheden op loop afstand. De kamers en bedden zijn wel heel erg klein! Verder netjes en schoon.

Rauhallinen hotelli keskustassa. Huone siisti ja kylpyhuone hyvä. Sänkyssä hyvä patja. Varoituksena: sänky liian lyhyt yli 1,7m, jos et nuku kippurassa.

Fint hotel som næsten ikke kunne ligge mere centralt. Servicen var fin og stor hjælpsomhed. Der kan være lidt støj, men det må man tage med, hvis man ønsker at bo så centralt,som Hotel Moderno ligger.

Hvis du vil bo centralt i Madrid kan dette være stedet. Vores værelse var beliggende ud til en lysskakt og derfor stille og roligt. Meget hjælpsom reception.

Hottellet ligger perfekt i forhold til Madrids seværdigheder og natteliv. Værelserne er små, men alt fungerer. Fin morgenmad.
