The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet, even on the street side. We paid extra for the breakfast but I think it was worth it, they had a great selection and the restaurant was beautiful. The front desk staff was very helpful arranging an early cab to the airport.

Lovely hotel in good location. Excellent service. Restaurant had very good choice of dishes, beautifully cooked and well presented. Superb resident pianist. Bedrooms comfy.

Reception staff extremely friendly and efficient. Hotel was immaculate and rooms were serviced daily. Ate in the hotel throughout our stay and the food was superb and very reasonably priced.

The hotel staff was very helpful as was the restaurant staff. We ate quite a few meals at the hotel with our 2 young children and we were very satisfied. The hotel is close to the train, but we ended up walking the city...we walked to the sites on both the Buda and the Pest side without much difficulty. I believe the hotel used to be called the palace,and by the interior decor I can tell why.On arrival we where told breakfast is 14 euros each.We went down for breakfast on our 1st morning and our room number was ticked off a list,we where then sent back up 1 floor to an overflow area.Then had to wait for fresh juice,eggs,tomatoes and bacon.Plates etc […] where not cleared quick enough.So after that experience we had breakfast out.On two occasions I asked the bar staff to put our bill on the room,what the bar staff didnt tell us is that by doing that you incurred a service charge.On departure I asked for the bill and was told that we had had 2 breakfasts each,I pointed out no we have only had 1 each and asked if he wanted to know why,after explaining as to why,I would have expected out of courtesy he would have knocked it off the bill,but no he did not. The location is good. Breakfast: excellent The front desk Staff, The Housekeeping, The Waiters; all the staff is kind, smiling and give you the feeling that they care about you and you are important. Otherwise why would Marton from the reception spend an hour on the phone just to solve the problem of our train ticket? or why would Zsolt again the receptionist […] give us the best advise about the tours and restaurants? Because we were treated like we were their most important guests .but here is the good news: we weren't the only ones. Because of the hotel policy they treat all their guests the way they treated us. Staff efficient and friendly. Hotel located within easy walking distance of most of Budapest's historical and cultural attractions, and not too far from the Danube. Our Executive Room was excelent value for money, even though the carpet needed renewal due to a stain. The strength of the hotel is its very friendly and helpful staff, who all speak good English. The restoration of the original 1906 design is stunning, with the integration of all modern conveninces (incl the aircon) being very sympathetically and well […] done. The location just a few steps from the Metro and trams makes it very cheap and quick to get into the central area of Pest and for a trip to Buda we took a reasonably-priced taxi which was also very quick (as Executive room customers we got a valuable 20% taxi fare discount). The breakfast buffet was very extensive with a wide range of hot and cold choices and the dinner we had was pleasant enough but not sensational. There were shops and an adequate selection of restaurants locally, but we chose to explore the wider eating delights of the central city most nights. It was a very hot day, we were both tired, and had to wait to be checked into our room. So we went on a red bus tour, and when we came back the lines to get our room were long. The person helping us could not locate us in the system. Lunch service was slow. I only ordered soup and some fruit. It probably took an hour. I've stayed at other Novotel locations and this one was average. My main complaint is the workout area/gym. This was an important feature to me because I am training for a half marathon. This is the WORST gym I have ever seen in a hotel. It is in the same room as the sauna. No doors, no fans, no air conditioning. It is incredibly hot and humid. I had […] to stop my run early because it was making me nauseous. There was a fan by the staff desk for the sauna and I asked a woman if she could bring a fan into the gym area and she said no. The location is good, the room was clean and nice. However, the front desk reception quality is really bad: not paying attention to guests (seem tired of them), not knowledgeable (didn't know the rates of parking, didn't know of nearby parking locations except for the hotel garage which is not free for the clients). I was unlucky to leave a bag there […] - I had to call them twice and repeat my request to different receptionists, as the first one simply forgot about my call and didn't leave any message... This is a nice hotel that I would visit again. Friendly and helpful staff, wireless internet and great location. The only issue we had was the Air Conditioning wasn't cooling very well but our stay was during a hot time. Would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is easy to reach from the airport. You take the bus to the metro and hop on the red line. The main train station -Keleti--is just a few blocks down the road. The hotel sent directions making it easy. The rooms were regular hotel--nothing special.There is a gym downstairs that is available free of charge. There is plenty of transportation--bus, tram, metro, even the hop -on hop-off bus goes down that road--right there for easy access to anywhere in the city. There is a supermarket across the street by the metro stop and a small bar across the street with really inexpensive beer. The staff here was not unfriendly, but not friendly. Had a nice stay in a spaciouse room with lots of storage areas. Even though planty of towels are given,The quality of them could have been better! the outside of the hotel is very picturesque, staff are exceptionally friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the location of the hotel was fine, you could catch the hop on and hop off tourist buses 2 mins walk away. i would reccomend eating out of the hotel as local bars/cafes are exceptionally cheap.

They also offered to set up tours and sell tickets to certain things although we didn't use it. The gym was small but got the job done. The location is excellent, easy access to the Airport and centrally located. We were easily able to walk to many of the sights - shopping/the Xmas market, the river etc... The hotel was excellent, very clean and the staff were very friendly. Overall a great base for a weekend away (or longer!)
