"Nice but not great service"
Its a pleasant resort and the restaurants are good, but quite expensive. The shuttle service works well so do not worry about the villas on a hill, the views are amazing and worth the walk/shuttle. The room was not quite as advertised, for example there was no DVD player and a very old TV, we did not mind as we were not there to watch TV but review […] your room against what you booked before unpacking. The hotel guest services are below par, they assign each room an "ambassador" which is code word for time share seller and we were woken up by ours phoning to see if everything is okay. The information contained in the guest services book was very out of date, a map without the suites by reception, out of date numbers (took us ages to find out all restaurant bookings went via reception and not the restaurants directly as the booklet advised). We reported a broken fan at reception and had to chase to get it fixed. We booked a restaurant via reception one night but the restaurant had no record of the booking. The hotel has their own taxis which is useful and we booked the day before we left to be taken to the airport but reception had no record of it when we were ready to go. They just don't seem to care enough to get things right, which is a shame as good service would make this resort excellent. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The resort was excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at the resort again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely resort for a quiet relaxing break"
Very well maintained resort. Good quality food, but not enough variety of menu across the range of restaurants. Staff very helpful especially reception/activities team. Try and get an all-inclusive deal, for best value or the charges for extras can be quite high.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good resort with some flaws"
Overall a great stay thanks mainly to the experienced front-line staff. First night was a disappointment due to a broken lock and a broken shower - none of which got fixed while we stayed in the room. However, next day the duty manager R.C. upgraded us to a much better room for the remaining two nights of our stay in order to compensate us for the ordeal […] of the first night. This certainly worked and we were generally very happy with the last two nights of our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It is a good resort with lots of different activities. The staff are laid back and on the whole wanting to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. They are very focused on trying to get you to return to their island. Sadly, we have two main disappointments from our stay. Firstly, we thought we were booking the pool that was shown on the Expedia description. […] However, this pool is an 'infinity' pool. Most of the villas have 'plunge' pools which are actually slightly larger then hot tubs. This was a huge disappointment as we booked the two-bedroomed villa thinking we would be getting the pool shown on the Expedia advert. Secondly, the kid's club was hit and miss. Out of the whole week our son attended two sessions. Not the club we expected and certainly not what was advertised. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A good choice for a family with kids from 7-16 yrs"
A very good choice for families - we stayed in a two bed villa which we found very comfortable and spacious and the abiltiy to make simple snacks in the room for kids was great. The beach and the water sport facilities are very good and appealed to an 8 year old and 13 year old. The service ranges from excellent to being ignored and verging on rude […] depending on the person you are dealing with. In one instance we had to enlist the help of the genral manager just to make a reservation in one of the hotel restaurants. That said it did not spoil the trip nor the overall experience which still comes down on the positve and we may well return. I would recommend this for stays of 7-10 days. The hotel was in a lovely location but the amount of trees/planting meant that the mosquitos were really bad and, despite promises to do it 3 times a week, we only saw the fogger once. The villas were well presented and equipped and there was plenty of choice in restaurants but the prevalence of regular time-share guests can make you feel a bit out […] on a limb as lots of other guests know each other and it's a bit cliquey. Lots of time sharers seemed to eat in their villas too so the restaurants lacked atmosphere a lot of the time. I know the beaches are all public property in St Lucia but, of all the many places we've stayed in the Caribbean, Windjammer's beach was the worst kept and presented. It wouldn't have taken much work to bring it up to a better standard and it would have been a much nicer place to spend time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Windjammer St Lucia"
We had only booked one night before joining our cruise. Upon arrival staff extremely friendly . Our room however rained in through night and we awoke to find water on floor. The toilet blocked and we were unable to use it in the morning. The telephone in the room didnot work. We ate in the Italian restaurant Food Ok but we thought the wine was very […] expensive. AQppeared to be a resort for families as there were lots of children around . We could not get our luggage out of the room because of the steepness of the steps and had to go down to recepyon because of the phone just to get the shuttle bus to come and take it. I am glad we were not staying longer than one night we are used to 5 star accomodation an this did not come up to scrafch for us. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful resort on the beach"
The Windjammer is a beautiful resort that offered everything we wanted - right on the beach, great facilities, clean villa with balcony, very friendly and helpful staff, nice variety of bars and restaurants, fun activities. Would definitely recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very good resort"
Hotel is beautiful built into the side of a mountain with every room having fantastic views of the ocean. Service was uniformly excellent and they went above and beyond several times. Beach is large with some nice slides/platforms for kids. Water was fantastic with no waves. We ate at all the resort restaurants and food was pretty good, but nothing […] amazing. Main drawbacks are that the resort is a bit dated (built 30 years ago, but very well maintained) and that not too far into the water the sand ends and rocks and seaweed begin. Its not a problem, but its why I rated the resort a 4 and not a 5. My wife and I had a fantastic time and I would definitely recommend the resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Adult Resort"
We stayed for a week at Windjammer for our honeymoon. From the moment that we arrived, we received nothing less than friendliness, professionalism, and outstanding resort condtions. The restaurants are delicious and the staff makes you feel welcome and relaxed. The resort provides a large, raked-daily beach area with many water sports to choose from. […] The crowd at Windjammer is one for families and adult couples- we did not have problems with loud, irresponsible people who just wanted to party (I'm saying this even though my husband and I are not older than 25). We were looking for a relaxed tropical paradise to honeymoon and we found it here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Resort Overall"
The staff was excellent! The beach is clean. A good variety of restaurants with excellent food. With the enviroment being humid, they need to hire a professional to clean and maintain their air conditioning units. "Beautiful Hillside Resort"
The layout of the resort with separate buildings built into the hills was beautiful. It gave you a feeling of more privacy & seclusion. Our partial ocean view room had a great view and a separate deck with two lounge chairs. The large walk-in shower was great. Shuttle service to and from our hill side room was always timely so access to restaurants […] & beach was always easy. The beach area had more than adequate lounge chairs & shade. "Most Relaxing Vacation Ever ... Amazing Views"
Had great experience. Not a luxury hotel. Room is simple, but very nice, clean, & comfortable, &had everything we needed. Liked the wired internet cable... no wireless internet service interruptions. Room views were best ever because of hillside placement of the villas, &large tiled patio off the room was enjoyable. Get up early to get chair with umbrella. Didn't […] care for the ocean water off the hotel. No waves and not enough clearing of the water, because you're in a little cove. Also a little rocky. It's good if you have kids. But we left the resort a few times to check out other beaches which were much better. Hotel lets you take out non-motorized equipment for free. We took out kayaks & snorkel equipment, & it was great. Gym is small but sufficient & we enjoyed most days. There were only a few people in there at a time & you might have to wait for a treadmill, but it wasn't bad,& never crowded. Enough restaurants on-site to satisfy you for a wk... a bit pricey, but taking a cab off-site just to eat wouldn't make financial sense. Poolside restaurant perfect for a sandwich. Drinks are not watered down. Otherwise, the food was not amazing... good enough. Mostly enjoyed The Dragonfly. When we were off-site, we found some delicious local eateries, which were cheap. Service is very slow but they are nice. Left our room safe open one day, & staff secured our valuables, including my 3ct diamond engagement ring. Honest people. Resort is best for couples and families. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Near city but not in city"
Taxis, hotel booked tours, or rental car (as in our case) for movement. You can't really walk to anything outside the resort. Shuttle vans take you from the main area to your lodging or you can walk, but it is a bit steep. The hotel resort has just about everything as a remote beach resort. The staff and food were excellent. If you are a big eater or […] drinker, the all inclusive is a good deal. If your neither, then the no-meal plan and pay as you go is better and you can then go to other places for some of your meals. Snorkeling and diving excursions are available at their dock as well as motorized and non-motorized water equipment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Beach is very crowded especially as they allow cruise ship day-trippers. Ugh. In room coffee maker is no where near a plug, so one has to place coffee maker on floor. Annoying. "Great room but terrible food and server service."
The property itself is beautiful and the rooms are quite nice with huge semi - private balconies that have great views and even greater breezes blowing across them. I could sit out there all night. The rooms were kept clean and the maid service was excellent. On the down side: not easy/convenient to leave the facility for either breakfast or lunch. […] You need to take the shuttle from wherever you are to the lobby and if you are in your room it may take a while for them to arrive. As a result, you end up eating in the facility. The food and service are poor. There were 6 of us and numerous meals were either sent back or at least complained about. It took forever to get a server and to get served which is probably due to the tip being included in the bill and shared amongst all of the staff -- no personal accountability was witnessed. All in all, it was a good vacation but I would not go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Trip of a lifetime"
I recently just spent 7 days at the WIndjammer for my honeymoon. The pictures do not do the resort justice, because it is extremely beautiful. Everything from the landscaping to the attitude of the staff was unparallelled. I cannot emphasize how perfect the stay was for my wife and myself. While also touring the island we had a chance to stop and have […] drinks at other resorts on the island. "Did not look at all like the pictures online!"
Our stay at the Windjammer St. Lucia started out by them trying to substitute 2 regular rooms for our two bedroom villa. Fortunately I had my Hotels.com paperwork along. Once we got to our villa it didn't look at all like the pictures I saw online when I booked it. If you put the condition of the villa and the decorating aside it was missing a few basics […] like a working clock, a second shower (only one of the bathrooms had a shower, the other had the shower disconnected and only had a tub), there was no dishwasher, the silverware was sitting on the kitchen counter.......The rest of the resort was fine, we ate lunch and a couple of breakfasts there which were ok. The beach was ok with the exception of the signs warning you of sea urchins and jelly fish. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Peaceful Retreat"
This hotel is getting old and needs some updating, which is in progress. The food, the spa, the evening entertainment, and the water sports were excellent. The staff was friendly. The resort was quiet (except for the croaking frogs at night) with a large private beachfront. Since the villas are on a cliff above the water, walking back and forth requires […] hearty vacationers (good exercise if you choose not to use the resort shuttles that run every 15 minutes). "Not what it appears"
Whilst the pictures of this hotel give the impression the place is paradise - then I have to say it wasnt my experience. I stayed here one night on business after being recommended by a colleague. The room I was put in wasnt what I would regard as a 4 1/2 star room (Room 110), even in the caribbean. I live in the caribbean so know what is what, but […] the room smelled damp and fusty, the fridge was rusted all down the side and the AC in the bedroom spat ice cubes out after making a huge noise every 10 minutes (so no sleep!), The food was good in the Upper Deck so I would say that was the only saving grace for this place. Unfortunately I wont be going back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful and comfortable but WAY too manyproblems"
The resort is gorgeous. The room was unique and bed was super comfortable. However we couldn't get into our room each time we tried. We had over 6 key cards, maintenance came after hours of trying to get them to fix the door. No wifi which we were needing to use and were told we had in the room. And the shower had no hot water. Not warm enough for my […] baby or my 3 year old to shower. My husband had to shower as he was the best man in the wedding we were there for. It was a very frustrating overall experience. Our friends who got married there had a great experience. They had problems but were fixed fairly quickly and received room upgrades etc. We had difficulties getting help. And when we complained they didnt care or apologize. So unless you are getting married there or staying for more than one night they don't seem to care about you. I will try to give a pretty honest review of the resort - Location - If you fly into the Hewanorra Airport you have to expect at least a 2 hour drive to the airport. If you fly into Castries, it will be a much shorter drive - 30 minutes depending on traffic. Windjammer does not provide transportation included in the cost, however they will help you […] arrange for reputable transportation. We went with ZD's and were very pleased. Hotel Staff (Excluding wait staff) - I cannot say enough about the front desk, tour staff, basically anybody who worked at the hotel. They were wonderful, kind, and informative. Several times they went out of their way to help us - giving advice on local food and non-touristy places to visit. Rooms - We were in the smallest (and cheapest) room offered, by choice, and were totally satisfied with the condition of the room. We had a 5 piece bathroom, king bed, walk - in closet, sofa and tv. The view was beautiful, overlooking the bay and beaches. The only nock on our room was that it could also be converted into a longer suite. The wall that can adjoin the room isn't totally soundproof and we had neighbors who were guests of a wedding, so the celebrating got loud. (However, it is a hotel so we expected some of that!) Full Disclosure - we didn't feel the need to alert hotel staff as neighbors quieted down once they realized we returned to our room. Grounds - Beautiful. It truly does look like the pictures, everything tiered up the side of the mountain. Restaurants - We were not on the all-inclusive plan. Many of the excursions offered lunch, and we found that we saved a lot of money off the plan. The food at the resort was good, but not great. Upon the recommendation of staff we tried several local restaurants. There we found a greater variety of food at better prices. Be aware that you will not experience service as in the US (whether off or on resort), or even what we've experienced in Europe. You are definitely on island time. If you are looking for paradise, this comes pretty close. The first thing one notices are views, that are beyond spectacular from anywhere on the property. The rooms/villas are wonderful, with true mediteranean charm and secluded balconies with views that extend from Castries to Martinique. They are delightfully spread over the steep hillside that tumbles […] down to the sea, and are accessed by a continuous shuttle servicer, that carries you up and down the roller-coaster network of landscaped streets that criss-cross the commubity, winding through beautiful tropical gardens. The resort location, between Castries and Rodney Bay, couldn't be better.... near the activities and outside nightlife, but still amazingly secluded, with a truly Mediteranean atmosphere. The restaurants are amonst the best on the island and their is also a large array of evening activities to keep you entertained. The watersports are on site and are completely comprehensive and well organized, and to be honest, there is almost too much to do, unless you you stay for a month! "Windjammer St. Lucia"
The Windjammer is quite a remarkable complex - more like a little community of villas than a hotel/resort. The villas are built on the side of a mountain with brick roads and boardwalks joining the residences to the main amenities located at the base of the mountain (at the beach). The grounds are beautiful, being situated in the jungle, it's lush with […] vegetation, beautiful flowers, birds and 'peeping' frogs. Our villa had a walk out patio for the lower apartment and access to a roof top patio with an incredible view for the upper apartment. The staff were alway friendlyand low key (except, unfortunately, the breakfast staff who strangely weren't always the happiest).. The whole place is low key - no loud parties or obnoxious and over-friendly salesy things going on. The windjammer is lovely place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I stayed at the Windjammer Resort from April 10 - 17th, 2011 for our honeymoon. We could not have picked a better location! The Windjammer Resort and St. Lucia were perfect for us. There was plenty to do when we wanted to be active, and there was enough down time and space for us to relax in between. The best part of Windjammer was our […] villa on the mountainside, with the beautiful views from our private patio. The negative part of Windjammer was that it was far from any local attractions, and we needed a taxi each time we left the resort. The closest village was Rodney Bay, about a 10 minute cab ride at $14 US. Castries was about 15-20 minute cab ride at $25 US. Next time we will rent a car, but beware if you want to get around on the island by yourself, the roads are extremely hilly, narrow, and curvy! So, renting a car straight from the airport might be intimidating, until you get the feel for how everyting is laid out. We loved our open-air villa. It had a full kitchen and living room, full bathroom, and huge bedroom. The hotel staff were very accomodating and friendly. We cannot wait to go back next year!
