Very nice comfortable hotel Location of hotel couldn't be better Excellent breakfast Extortionate mini-bar, I never use them but €8.50 for a miniature whiskey! Car parking €19 per night!! I thought we were guests!

Great hotel all around, from the friendly and professional staff, to the quality and condition of the rooms, restaurants, business facilities, and public areas. Very convenient location to explore Ljubljana, and the prices were terrific as well.

Location perfect. Staff good. Room modern and well appointred. Was woken by loud clashing from 5m deliveries - not great! Used ear plugs second night! Worst thing was breakfast. Watery OJ, poor quality bread. Stocks low at 9am, on both days when I went down. Probably would not stay again due to disappointing breakfast.

I spent 4 days here with my family and what a great hotel. The facilities were great and the location is exceptional. From the front door its just metres into the heart of Ljubljana with some great cafes and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and the service was always with a smile. Overall a great place to stay for anyone visiting Ljubljana.

Hotel was superbly placed for visiting the Old Town. The staff and service were of extremely high standard and the small evening and lunch Restaurant of a very high standard. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

The hotel appears a bit dated - the comforters and carpeting in our room were really showing their age and there was a medicine pill that stayed on the floor through our entire stay so I can't say that the cleaning was spotless. The location of the hotel made it perfect. I enjoyed the free internet and the free morning breakfast buffet. Everyone that worked at the hotel was amazingly nice and helpful. We stayed here after flying in from the U.S. What a great decision....not only was the location terrific for walking around the city, but the hotel was very comfortable, the breakfast was practically overwhelming, and it was a great place to help us with our jet lag- big comfortable rooms and beds.

The staff is friendly, but the hotel does need some repair. We stayed here as it is easy off and on the freeway heading toward the Zagreb airport that is about 1 1/2 hrs. away. We had a very enjoyable 2 nights here. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Bathrooms looked new and the toiletries were plentiful. The breakfast buffet was substantial and the coffee was exceptionally good. Wi-fi was free which was a rarity for us while staying at other 4-star hotels throughout Europe. The walk to the city center was probably under […] 1 minute. The Franciscan church was right outside of our window and the Ljubljana castle could also be seen. And of course, the staff were very helpful and friendly. My only gripe was that the extra bed for a 3rd person was quite uncomfortable. Perhaps a mattress pad on it would do the trick. The room was lovely- spacious, comfortable, well-appointed and clean. The desk, bellhop, bar, and housekeeping staffs were friendly; however, the food (stale bread for sandwiches) and service (slow and indifferent) in the cafe restaurant for lunch were not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. The breakfast did offer a huge assortment of all […] types of food. The hotel has a terrific location just steps from the center of town, but it is quiet and restful. What marred our visit was our experience on the first evening with a taxi driver parked a few yards outside the hotel (LJ EP 060), who fixed his meter to overcharge us by 20 euro! When we discussed this with someone at the front desk, we were earnestly told that there was nothing the hotel could do about it, that if they complained to the police, nothing would happen. The next day, the same driver smirked at us as he was parked literally right outside the main door, sitting with his own door wide open and chatting with a few other drivers. For the next four days, whenever we exited and returned, we had to walk past him and his friends, who even used the ashtrays at the main door and congregated there for much of the day. The hotel is in an amazing location, just around the corner from the central area of Ljubljana. We were lucky to be given an upgrade, so had a suite which had a bedroom, bathroom, and a lounge area with a kitchen. This gave us lots of space! The hotel staff were incredibly polite and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay here. This is a beautiful old building right in the center of Ljubljana. It's an easy walking distance from the river, the castle, and downtown shops and restaurants. The staff were exceptionally friendly and spoke very good English. Very central, small pool on top floor was a real boon. Some books refer to "shabby" rooms, however this is probably outdated as ours was clearly new with large LCD T.V. etc, a notice said rooms were being upgraded until Sept 2012. Expressos on order with good buffet breakfast. Very satisfied!

The Grand Union Hotel is what the name implies...Grand. This is an old world hotel with new world service. The location is the best in Ljubljana and Ljubjana is a European jewel. I highly recommend the hotel and the city. Great service, excellent breakfast.

My husband was there on business, but we had a very romantic laid back stay in Ljubljana. The hotel was a very short walking distance from shops, restaurants, and the triple bridges. Situated within maybe a 2 mile radius of everything, including the Ljubljana Castle. Would definetely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Amazing location. Nice pool. Fantastic breakfast with many different options for food. Room a bit small for a family with children and horribly uncomfortable rollaway beds.

Excellent service from check-in to check-out. I assumed there was a fee for the parking garage, but I wasn't informed of it until check-out. 17 Euro per night was a small price to pay to keep my baby in the garage. :)

Very reasonably priced, perfect location one block from town center. Room had a small balcony, very comfortable bed, a small frig, free wi-fi, breakfast included was huge and included Slovenian champagne which was very good.

Hotel is fine, but Slovenia was experiencing some unusually warm weather for March and the hotel would not switch on the air conditioning system. Therefore the room was like an oven so needed to open the window - and if you open the window you hear the church bells every hour, all night long. Not good for sleeping. This hotel overcharged us for a conference room, they charged me for equipment which not existed. The were rude when I insisted not to pay for equipment which not existed. Never this hotel again. The room is ok, but nothing more. There are other very good hotel in Ljubljana, choose one of them instead.
