Great staff,very friendly. Room was clean and tidy,t.v stations could be updated,no sky news or sports in room.Bed was not comfortable,could do with changing the mattress.But overall was satisfied,would stay there again.

This hotel looks good in the pictures, but is more like a jail when you see it in person... The hallways are dirty and the rooms have been painted so many times that all you can smell is paint... Location suited us as we were attending a funciton there. Room was good value in comparision to the advertised walk in rate; but it did not include breakfast - any budget hotel would include for that rate. We had breakfast in the Bull Ring (15minutes), leaving our car in the safe parking provided by the hotel. The room was adequate, but could be cleaner […] and quieter considering I was travelling with my son. Its quite an old hotel, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The wireless internet is free and its a 15-20minute walk to the city centre. The room was clean and I ran ran out of hot water in the shower.

Checked into the hotel and very satisfied with my room, 2 very comfy beds and breakfast although 6.95 extra was spot on and plenty of food on offer.

NIce looking hotel, very good restaurant, but the bed was awful, I could feel every spring in the bed. Check room first

i arrived at the hotel at approximately 9pm and had a warm welcome. i had to change my room initially due to my room having no internet so i was moved to the 2nd floor (if you need the internet make sure you are placed on either the 1st or 2nd floors) i entered the room and was pleased to find a dirty sock on the floor! ok i can forgive that i suppose! anyway […] i told the duty manager when i went down for some food and buy my breakfast for the following morning, he apologised and thought it would be funny to tell me that when he checks the rooms he pretends to find £2 so the cleaners feel bad, great still got the sock in my room! so after a quiet night with constant banging of my windows from the wind and a draft going through the room i was awoken buy my wake up call, i went and had a shower and admired the falling plaster and damp that was on the ceiling in the bathroom. i went down for breakfast. room looked great, and that was it. i helped myself to a great british fry up, i filled my plate with some of the food on offer and sat to eat, had some juice and as i started to eat some of the breakfast tasted a bit "funny", i though it was the juice mixing with the food. i couldn't eat all of my breakfast as i was starting to feel a bit odd. i went back to my room and collected my items and checked out. caught a taxi and made my way to my meeting in the city centre. i got to my destination and had to rush to the toilet and threw up for approximately 10 mins. i knew i had food poisioning! what a great way to make a first impression at my meeting. be careful if you wish to stay here, it could be a lovely hotel but i would never stay here again. The hotel is quite old but has an interesting history to it, so those history buff might find it interesting. The room was ridiculously tiny..one could barely navigate among the 2 single beds. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling.

We treated ourselves to an overnight hotel & shopping spree. The hotel is a beautiful Victorian building with lovely stained glass skylights above the bar and restaurant. I have stayed at the Paragon Hotel on a number of occassions and always find the staff courteous and willing to help whereever possible. The rooms are basic but fine for a one or two night city break - or as we tend to visit - for the Birmingham City football home matches! The location of the hotel is also excellent to find from the M6 and the undercover secure carparking is an absolute bonus. When you walk into the Paragon Hotel Reception and ask the manager, "do you think it would be safe to leave my car on the road outside the hotel?" and he says "yes, we never have any car crime round here unless somebody leaves a laptop or mobile phone in sight", don't listen to him. Pay the £5 a night car park fee. Trust me, the car park fees work […] out cheaper than the excess charge from your insurance company. Digbeth isn't a nice place. 2. I liked the building, my room, and I also felt the service was wonderful. The combination of these with the price made for a great value. For the price it would unreasonable to expect opulence but for a quiet night of sleep and a clean room complete with tea kettle and shampoo packets I was charmed and will probably use the hotel again in the future. Waal !!!!!!!!! Ours was a romantic getaway and it was our first holiday together we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel cant fault it at all, we are so pleased we chose Paragon Hotel , staff were very helpful with everything we wanted . Very convenient location just about 10 minutes walk to Bullring . Will definately book Paragon Hotel again without […] any second thoughts , the room was very clean and we were quite comfortable . Had a really good stay at the hotel, staff were friendly and very Helpful. Had a room on 4th floor, when you got out of lift onto the floor, there was a bit of a horrible smell but that soon went. The room was clean and very comfortable, sheets and towls were changed the 2 days of my stay. Will be staying again on my next visit.

Handy location - easy walk to the city centre and the sights of Digbeth (Custard factory, Green Man) are on the way. Beautiful red brick Victorian building (with dragons on the turrets!). Have stayed many times and keep going back because they offer such amazingly good value deals. We had a double room for two with breakfast for just under £50! Down stairs reception and bar area was nicely presented. The room was comfortable and the staff are friendly. The only unusual thing I found was my room did not have a shower so had to have a bath each night.

Upon check in we asked if the bar was open to a response 'i don't know'. Got to the bar and waited 15 minutes before just going to a local bar. The en-suite bathroom had a lot of mould/damp in it but it did overall did the job it was intended to.

I have used Paragon before and would definitely use it again. Ok so it's not right in the centre of town but for the price would say excellent value. I would rate the staff as excellent especially Emily who was there when we checked out. All other staff there fabulous too.

It has really classic quality to it. Compared to most of the hotels you find in U.K , it really has the feeling of a real hotel. By that i mean you can tell it was intended for that propose. I really liked the hotel over all, plus they were in process of remodeling so I believe there will be a lot of improvements on the way that will make it better […] for the customer. One of the problems i had is that there was a frequent interruption of the internet services, which could be problematic if one is on a business trip. The location can be an issue because it is a bit out of the way, which could be an issue if you are not driving, but if you are driving they have their own parking lot which is a plus in Birmingham, UK. I stayed here with a friend after reading the reviews I was a little apprehensive but the room was really nice, i stayed on the 1st floor where the rooms are a higher quality than the other floors, the staff were extremely nice and very very helpful they also book taxis for you so you dont get ripped off by local taxi drivers, the hotel is minuets from […] everything the bull ring, china town (some good restraunts), the hippodrome, the gay village (nice safe place to go out if your not used to city's straight or gay), some good rock clubs, the train station anything anyone could be interested in if they were staying, I will defiantly be staying here again after experiencing the horrors of the Britannia there is no comparison this hotel is far superior and around the same price was defiantly worth while spending the extra £10 to have some where nice to go back too, there's some shops just around the conner too (good for cheap booze before a night out) only thing i will say is the area the hotel is not the best (some small industrial buildings and residential flats) infact i was worried when i first arrived but after a day i realised it was actually an ok safe place. I couldn't fault this hotel. Travelled up from London, Our room was small, but very modern and comfortable. I would definately recommend this hotel if you're looking for a cheap stay near city centre. I enjoyed my time so much, i have already booked my next stay.

I chose this hotel because it was cheap and close enough to walk into Birmingham (which we did during the day but we got a cab in the evening). I was originally given a room that had not been serviced since the previous guest. I received an apology and a different room. Luckily we came back to the hotel in the early hours. The music at the party in […] the hotel stopped at 2am. If we had been back much earlier we wouldn't have slept (it was Christmas season). We arrived for breakfast at about 9am and they were running out of items, which were perfectly stocked as breakfast finished (at 10am). There were plastic cups for the fruit juice which was a bit unusual. Free car parking was great and I could leave my car during the day of our departure, which was much appreciated. Paragon was a really nice hotel was a pleasure to stay in a hotel with character. just like hotels used to be as there aren't many of them left these days. Room was clean, very comfortable, staff pleasant and more than helpful. would defo recommend, we will most certainly stay there again.

Paragon hotel is in my view a excellent hotel not far out of the city center. Staff very polite and good quality room. Only downside is the beds are very uncomfortable think the mattress need changing

Good value hotel, would use again and recommend. Try the Spotted Dog down the road, lovely old fashioned pub.

I'v stayed at this hotel many times before. This visit was no different to any others i've had. Service was excellent and room was clean and comfortable. At check-in. a standard room was unavailable as they had not been cleaned yet so we had a free upgrade to a superior room. The hotel itself seemed like it may have been quite grand 'in it's day'. It's still quite ornate and elegant, but not in the greatest part of town - in the middle of a trading estate (although there are a few local friendly pubs within a few minutes walk and a chippie right next door!) but it's an easy 15-20 minute walk into the centre of town (or a […] few quid in a taxi). The hotel was not spectacular, but for the prices I was happy when I first arrived. Reception and bar are nice. My room was far from the pictures, being very small and a bit worn, but did the job OK. The shower did not look too clean though. Since I was just getting up and driving to another hotel the next morning I skipped the shower. All in all not […] bad too...EXCEPT... This is very handy for central Birmingham, comfortable, clean and very good value for money. Don't expect to get served at the bar, however, as there were never any staff on duty.

the hotel is outdated and grubby. my room was not that clean and the bed was extremely uncomfortable I had an accessible room which was hard to manoeuvre around, the toilet was at an angle and difficult to use. The TV had a very poor signal, and the so called superior toiletries etc in the superior rooms were the same as used in the standard rooms. […] The dinner menu is poor and limited and there are no healthy choices on the menus. This hotel is what it says on the box, Central location and value for money,All extra luxury costs, it s a real value for money hotel,Rooms are basic but clean, more personal than Ibis ,Formula 1 etc,3 rd time to stay there .

We were impressed when arriving at the hotel, only a 15 min walk to the bull ring and also the Alex theatre. We didn't expect much from the hotel due to the extremly cheap price, it is a very average hotel but what can you expect when you pay so little. So we thought great, cheap hotel great location. That was until we can back after a show we went […] to see, our room walls could have only been made from plasterboard, we could hear everything! There must have been a party or something but we didn't get to sleep until after 5 am. No memebers of staff did anything to control the noise it was the worst night i have ever spent in a hotel! Not what i expected and would not stay there again as there are a lot more cheaper and nicer hotels close by. The hotel is situated in the middle of a council estate and the rooms are very dull and small. There was no food or drinks available at 10pm from the bar and breakfast was not option.
