We loved it! Definitely going back!

The inn was located centrally in Newport, walking distance to all restaurants, waterfront attractions and shopping. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. The selection of items on the breakfast buffet exceeded all expectations. Quantities were plentiful and the food was very fresh. Presentation is everything. We recomnmend that this Inn not be selected […] by young families on St Patricks Day as due to the location on the main strip, noise level was excessive into the night due to the revellers. Location of the hotel is very convenient. If you want to stay in the area, just park your car in the lot and enjoy walking around time. Concierge gave great recommendations for restaurants. Will definitely stay there again.

The America's Cup Inn is a quaint, but nice hotel right in downtown Newport. In terms of it's location it's great, I was there for New Years with some of my friends (we're in our early 20s) and there are a lot of restaurants and bars right in downtown that were literally less than 2 minutes walking distance away (which was great for December). Some […] of the other reviews talked about the expensive parking, but in the winter the lot is free because it's off season, which was a nice surprise. I stayed in a room with 2 double beds, it had a huge window over looking the street and the supposed street noise wasn't an issue for me or my friends. The hotel is kind of like a bed and breakfast but bigger...the walls are pretty thin so you can hear other people in the rooms around you, and the people at the front desk are older, and are really interested in you, what you're doing, where you're going etc, which is different, but fairly helpful & ok. The room itself was nice, but wasn't anything special, 2 pretty comfortable beds, unique pictures/furniture and a small television. The bathroom was really small, just a shower and a toilet with the sink outside in the room, and the bathroom itself was clean, but clearly outdated and just seemed old...We did have a huge window over looking the street though which was awesome, and everything in my room was clean. My friends stayed in a deluxe suite, which in the winter was only about 20 - 30 dollars more a night, and it was 2x the size (a bedroom and a living room with a kitchen) with a huge closet and a bigger bathroom, that room also was in a separate building that opened right to a private lobby and then to the street, which was really nice, more private then my room. Her room had the same amount of sleeping space, a queen bed and a pull out couch. Both rooms were pretty nice overall though. Nightly Get Away, Close to everything and very comfy. Wierd light issue think it was a spirit.

A beautiful, colonial style inn right in the heart of downtown Newport, RI. Walking distance to most sights. A very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was more than adequate and the rooms were decorated tastefully. I would not only recommend this inn, but I would most definitely stay there again.

This is a diamond in the rough. Besides location and comfort the Continental Breakfast is almost like a British breakfast buffet. Highly recommend.

The Inn is located right at the waterfront; easy to get around Thames St for shopping, dining, strolling, special events. Excellent location for nightlife, no worries about driving, just go out and enjoy! Didn't have time for the complimentary breakfast. This hotel doesn't look like much on the outside, but the room was spacious and as for the noise...minimal, we were on the street side and didn't hear much..the staff was friendly and the breakfast items were great! I will definitely be booking a room here again. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. The breakfast offered many choices and was pretty good. The staff was helpful and accomodating. The room was comfortable, perhaps a bit dated but it was clean and spacious. Loved the location. I would stay there again as they did not require a 2 day stay.

Great location, too old for my taste

I give the America's Cup Inn an OK rating and a qualified recommendation. The location in Newport can't be beat. I liked the old building. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was outstanding. I thought it was high priced for the quality of the rooms. The wallpaper was old and peeling and the furniture was not particularly charming. The bathroom […] was nothing special and a little dingy. The sink drain was slow. The worst was the smell from the air conditioner - very bad. Fortunately it was not hot and I could turn it off. This hotel was in a good location, however service was mediocre at best.. When we arrived the manager gave us minimal information. If I didn't ask, the information wasn't provided. Quaint little room reminded us of our hotel in Sienna, Italy. AC is loud for small room. Beware parking is an additional fee in the lot across the street! Would stay here […] again ONLY in a pinch. Nice hotel in good location to piers, restaurants and info center. The hotel is providing great breakfast buffet. Staff is werry helpful and welcoming.

This may not be a sparkling new hotel but for a New England Inn it was just fine. The beds were comfortable, the ac worked, the location was great and the breakfast was enjoyable.

This place was right in the heart of everything on Thames Street. Real clean, convenient, and the staff was very friendly. No parking on-site but the public parking was 10 steps away and payable at the inn so it was perfect. They said they had continental breakfast but it was a full and excellent one and exceeded my expectations. I would defintely […] go back there again when I am in Newport. The B and B is in an excellent location and the service is good. The problem is the rooms. They need an upgrade like maybe changing the rugs. As soon as we opened the door ther was an instant moldy smell. My wife has athsma and and ended up getting sick the next morning. Get rid of the rugs and it would be a good place to stay.

Location excellent close to shopping etc. Hotel could use some upgrading in regards to Decor however very clean and beds were comfortable. Free upgrade was appreciated. Breakfast was excellent. Would return.

Very nice hotel, centrally located in Newport, close to restaurants, bars and shops. Breakfast is served, but it is more of a brunch, enormous choice !!! Only negative point: the hotel has no parking, there is however a public parking nearby, but that is rather expensive, even with the reduction you obtain from the hotel.

America's Cup was right in the center of the Newport waterfront shops and pubs. Room very clean, decor quaint...service excellent, lovely breakfast included-offered in dining...dainty tea cups and all! I will be back again!!

Great stay. Cute and quiet. Perfect location within walking distance of all to see in Newport. Friendly staff, great breakfast, cozy atmosphere. Perfect for a getaway or business. Parking across the street, not a big deal. America's Cup Inn gives a discounted rate.

Would definately stay here again. Suite was a good choice as other rooms looked small. Breakfast was more than ample... they did a very nice service.

I stayed at the America' Cup Inn recently for a conference, arriving Sunday, and leaving Wednesday. My room was small, but that was expected when you are in an older hotel, and that added to the feel of the surrounding historic town. The Inn was in a great location, right on the north end of Thames street in downtown Newport. You step out the door, […] and right near food and shopping. You are also across the street (1 block from the harbor). I expected outside noise, but didn’t hear anyone outside my room. The only issue I had was I was the room next to the lobby and front door. the room was very nice and clean with no smell! but the lobby, steps and the hall has a bad smell and not so nice to stay at so after going around the day we were or in our room or sitting by the water for breakfast and dinner!

Pleasant side street but still close to the action. Quick walk to harbor. Not a very far walk to mansions. Very close to synagog. Room was quiet, had A/C. Nicely decorated,

Hotel very well posiitoned to wharf areas, shopping, restaurants, trolley, and only a few blocks up the hill to the tennis complex. Rooms comfortable, air conditioning works, but doesn't shut off when reaches temperature. Can get cold and noisy at night. Would definittely stay there again.

Tucked away, yet in the heart of Newport, this clean little gem of an inn will be my choice again and again on future visits to the ever lovely Newport, RI. Thanks for the great service.

We just completed 3 nights at America's Cup Inn and were very pleased with our experience. It is an older hotel so don't expect everything to be shiny and new, but they take great care of the place. Its charm comes from the fact that it is older and they have maintained it in that older style. For us, it was part of being in Newport. The real value […] of this hotel is the location. We hardly ever got in our car. We walked to dinner every night. We walked to the water for our sailing experience, we walked to shopping, we walked in the evening to get ice cream and just experience the city. The streets are so narrow and confusing in Newport that being able to leave your car was quite nice. Fair warning: you will pay $18 per day to park your car. This is a very crowded city and parking is not easy and not free. The hotel has a lot directly across the street so it is convenient, but its not free. Читати далі

This is a gem. Right on the waterfront. The breakfast is terrific. Coffee is available all day. I will stay there again when I travel to Newport.

The hotel is located right in the middle of downtown. There isn't anything you can't walk to. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast is good as a continental breakfast. It's not the best breakfast that I have ever had but you can't beat the price, the convenience, and the selection (Bagels, waffles, fruit, cereal, hard […] boiled eggs etc.) The only complaint is the hotel is on the older side. It definitely has not been updated in a while, and the rooms are small. But it is a great place to hang your hat. You really aren't going to hang out in the room. When you factor in the price, the location, and the staff, I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Читати далі

Parking right across the street. Never had to use the car. Right on Thames Street. Would definitley go there again. Much quieter than expected.

The hotel (bed & breakfast to be exact) is old but well maintained. Friendly staff. The location was excellent - right next to all the stores, restaurants, activities. Paid parking outside, have hotel validate your parking ticket for a discount.

Parking is apparently an issue when you stay at this hotel, so be expected to drive around the block a million times looking for a spot -- and this was in the OFF-SEASON. When we called to inquire about the parking situation the clerk was rather indifferent and not very helpful. This is a typical European-style hotel in an old part of Newport, meaning […] that it's quaint and might be charming if you like staying in a place that was decorated by your fussy aunt Mildred. We were given an apartment suite, which was nice because of the room but was not very intimate or romantic. The breakfast buffet includes protein -- and even the traditional Yankee breakfast of apple pie -- but the quality of the food is only so-so. A decent place to stay for prices typical of Newport, but I wouldn't go back or recommend it to others. Читати далі

The location is right in the middle of everything. Can walk to restaurants, Goat Island etc. The continental breakfast consists of frozen eggs, frozen fruit, frozen waffles and store bought small muffins. It's all frozen. Demetrie was very nice and cut up a cantelope one day. He was also helpful in giving advice and suggestions. Tea and cookies in the […] afternoon was nice. Nice store bought cookies. America's Cup Inn was in a great location right on Thames Street close to great shops and dining. However, the Inn appeared as though it had not been updated since 1975. Room was large and a good price, but musky smell, no cups in the bathroom, and clearly re-filled body lotion container made it feel like we stayed at Gramma's house instead of an I […] nn. Читати далі
