Movenpick is one of only two beachside hotels in Karon worth staying at, with the other being the much more expensive Hilton. This resort is close to the action of Phuket island without the irritation of rowdy tourists and the hustle bustle of a popular destination. Totally loved it and planning our next stay. Service from hotel staff was prompt and always courteous. Even the fitness centre was well equipped and serviced well.

Great resort. Good location. Stayed in garden villa after checking into standard room well worth the extra cost. Totally different experience being in the gardens as to staying in the standard room which was small and noisy.

What a fantastic hotel! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we experinced exceptional service. They even delivered a cake to the room on my husband's birthday with no prompting from me! The sand bar was a fantastic place to relax - especially during happy hour!

We had an initial incident with check-in where we were left to wait for 2 hours. The reception staff did however offer us a free upgrade in order to rectify the inconvenience. The hotel grounds and gardens are large and well kept. There are 3 swimming pools and a dive center attached to the one closest to the beach entrance. The main pool closest to […] reception has a swim up bar with kids area and slide, kiddies looked like they were having a ball, however not really for couples looking for a bit of a quieter setting which is a shame as it would have been nice to have made use of the pool bar. The 3rd pool offered a more relaxing experience and still came with food and drink service. The room was great, however we found it to be a little "tired". Cracks in the walls and peeling paint. The bath never really enticed us as the room had a bit of this old/used feeling and appearance. We had a plunge pool out front and outdoor shower which was great to cool off under. The breakfast offered a good range of variety and a pleasant setting next to the main pool. As the hotel is rather large with many guests, the pacifica (breakfast restaurant) was busy and produced food in bulk. The quality of food was average as a result. Other restaurants within the hotel were expensive and we chose to step outside the grounds of the hotel for all other meals. Movenpick has a certain 'older' style about it's hotel and bungalows. That being said it has been very well maintained. The main hotel tower where we stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View room had a view of the sea, albeit from 300-400m back with the sand being obstructed by trees. Be careful when booking this hotel via expedia. They do not guarantee the type of bed you will have in your room. We are a couple and we had to sleep in twin beds, when we requested a double bed. We found a small cockroach in our bathroom when we arrived, really surprising for this type of resort. We were thrilled to be upgraded to a garden villa at check in. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is extremely well maintained and the grounds are green and gorgeous. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quieter Phuket experience, but still wanting to be close to local attractions.

Brilliant in all measures and have reccomended to 3 people already and advised 1 friend to cancel reservation at La Meridian Phuket which they have done and booked in for 2 weeks at Movenpick.

the banglog is amaizing with wide space for your soul to relief. it is cold looking, creamy colored decoration with wide spaces it has a small swiming pool upsatires that gives you a nice privecy

We were staying at the hotel in the tsunami and the hotel had no emergency evacuation plan, no sirens which is unacceptable. The warning system was basically staff telling people. Had a wonderful time at the Movenpick, Karon Beach. Beautiful hotel and grounds and plenty of things to keep 4 kids amused. Only weakness would be the Kids Club - the furnishings appeared a little tired and dated - only used it once for a short period. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The pictures of the hotel do not correspond to the reality!!! The resort is really old (more than 20 years old), all the villas are very used and dirty, all ground floor villas have very specific "old" smell. Penthouse villas are better. Plunge pool is impossible to use because of big quantity of chlorine which is used to disinfect it. We have seen […] 5 villas before choosing the villa to stay!!! The beach is not private, you have to leave the resort and cross over a street to arrive to the beach, where you have to pay for the beach chairs and umbrellas. The gym is too small and old as well. The breakfast is ok. It takes about 10 min to go to Patong by tuk-tuk. The wi-fi internet doesn't work almost every day! The staff is very bad educated, they demonstrate a bad knowledge of English and the indifference to the customer's needs!!!!! Читати далі

Infrastructure - rooms, lobby, grounds, pool - is 5-star, but service is 3-3.5 star. Given that, the US $300-odd that we paid per room per night was not especially good value for money. (Although we did travel during peak New Year's season.) Positives: 3 pools. Main pool is fantastic. Big, deep in parts, shallow in others. Swim-up bar decent-sized, […] although getting a bit old. Big lobby - airy and grand. I stayed in an ocean-view room, in the main building, which was standard-issue 5-star. Not extravagant, but perfectly adequate for such a property. (The rooms are aging and will need renovation soon.) Note, rooms in the main building (least expensive ones) are a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. Some subset of villas are much closer. Negatives: Service left something to be desired. The general impression we got was that the staff wanted to be done with whatever conversation they were having with us as soon as they could, so they could attend to presumably more important things. The vaunted friendliness of Thailand was missing, but unfortunately, it was not replaced with Western efficiency either. Language was an issue - one expects a European 5-star resort to have staff that speak adequate English, but this was not always the case, and resulted in one instance of particularly bad service. Considering the resort is a four and a half to a five star rate, it is not delivering the quality nor the service that it should be. A Penthouse Pool room that I reserved was a disappointment as I expected the pool to be a pool and not a bath! and I also expected the room floor to be clean and the furnishings to be dust and ant free.

I'll concentrate on the negatives here because I could go on for ages about the positives: (1) Internet - should be free but they charge $100 / week unless you want to queue in their library (2) Food and drink is pricey in the hotel. Check this on arrival because with us, it was included but we didn't know and ate breakfast elsewhere on all but three days! Movenpick is a great family friendly resort. We stayed at the Residences and enjoyed apartment living with a full view of Karon Beach from most rooms. It was ample room for the four of us. We spent most of our time enjoying lazy afternoons by the main pool. The buffet breakfast catered to many cuisines - continental, american, swiss, asian, great quality […] and service. My only complaint was service we received on our last afternoon, when we had booked their "change room" from 5pm to 6pm to shower before our flight. Whoever had the room before us, took an additional half hour which meant we had to spend over 40 minutes waiting in our bathers at reception for these other guests to finish. When we finally got the room, the four of us had only 1/2 an hour to organise ourselves for the flight back home. With a six year old and a four year old, it beacame quite challenging.
