How to Find the Best Thailand Hotels with Hotels.com

Thailand hotels vary greatly from the cheapest backpacker rooms to high end luxury resorts. Whatever your budget and whatever style of holiday you prefer, Hotels.com has accommodation in Thailand to suit you. Whether you're planning a city break in Bangkok, lounging on the beach in Phuket or exploring Lanna culture in Chiang Mai, we can help you to find the perfect place to rest your head. Thailand is a melting pot of East and West. You will feel at home yet still be enticed by the country.

What's Thailand Like?

Thailand has a magical quality which stems from the beautiful weather and beaches, the friendly people and fascinating culture. Thailand hotels can be found wherever there are tourist sights, which is pretty much everywhere. The Grand Palace in Bangkok is a spectacular display of architecture with many intricately designed buildings decorated with gold. Shimmering temples can be seen throughout the country, so be sure to visit at least one, wherever you go. There are also many giant Buddha statues serenely perched on top of hills, such as the Big Buddha in Phuket or the one at Wat Phra Yai temple in Pattaya. In the north of Thailand you can learn about different hill tribes including the famous "long neck" Karen tribe whose women wear many rings around their necks which gives the appearance of elongation. In Chiang Mai, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, built in 1383, is a mountain top temple with stunning views over the city. If you're feeling fit you can climb the 300 dragon lined steps to get to the top. Otherwise there is a funicular tram to help out.

Tips for Getting Along with Locals in Thailand

Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles, everywhere you go local people will smile at you, so be sure to look happy and return the courtesy. In Thai and Buddhist culture the head is the most sacred part of the body and the feet the least so. Don't touch people's heads and don't point the soles of your feet at anyone. When visiting a Buddhist temple you must cover your shoulders and knees and you should always have your head below the level of the head of a statue of Buddha. You should always remove your shoes before entering a temple or a Thai home and if you see a pile of shoes outside of a shop or any Thailand hotels, you should remove yours too. Most people wear flip flops for quick and easy removal.
