Lovely boutique-style built run hotel. Everything is exactly as described and pictured. We only stayed a night to break a long journey prior to flying out of SJO the following afternoon, but there's plenty to do in the area and it would make a great base if staying a little longer. Very comfortable beds, it was one of our best nights sleep of our trip! We had dinner in Alajuela, about 10 mins drive away with loads of choice, and went back to the town to kill a couple of hours the next day...

Just an overnight stay and morning at the animal rescue. The hotel is well worth a longer stay. There is a great swimming pool and lovely well-kept gardens. The restaurant served very nice food and the staff were always helpful. The bedroom was basic but big. We couldn’t get the safe to work but I’m sure they would have sorted it if we asked. Given all the time that hotels were closed due to covid I think the staff can be proud to have done an excellent job.

I'd say this is one of the loveliest bed & breakfasts I've ever stayed in. The gardens are truly beautiful and it was awesome to wake up and look out at the flowers, plants and amazing wildlife taking in all the nectar. Jnana made us the best breakfast of our trip - it was truly awesome. They were so welcoming and friendly as hosts, and we felt very much at home there. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Gorgeous stay at the Retreat! We ate well and relaxed - the place is done very, very well, with beautiful views and very comfortable rooms. The only complaint I have is that the mattresses could have been better (which is often the case in hotels). We didn’t get up to much on our short stay besides lounging by the pools and in the spa and working out in the perfectly well equipped gym, but we did do one yoga class which was lovely - the studio is beautiful.
