The kids loved the room, very fun layout with a mezzanine level for their beds, lots of games of hide and seek were had! Food deserves a special mention, beautiful dining room with lots of light. The dinner menu was great, ample choice of plant based meals which is nice to see, although we couldn't resist the meat options on this trip....

"Accurately advertised. You can literally see a mile castle on Hadrian’s Wall from your room. Beautiful country views. A problem with our heat was addressed immediately. Excellent dinner choices and service in the cozy pub. "

"Hotel is run by James and Susan with some additional staff. The check in was quick and friendly, our room clean with view of the river, good shower. We ate twice in the evening and food was good. Breakfast was in the Admiral's room which was well decorated, bright and atmospheric. The building dates back to 1422 and has had several extensions and repurposed from the original court house to an Admiralty rest house to hotel and pub. The external fabric could do with some maintenance and...

"I stayed for one night following a long hike along Hadrian's Wall. Beautifully located close to the wall, but far away enough to feel extra secluded and peaceful. The host couldn't have been more helpful, and the breakfast superb. Comfortable bed, hot shower/bath and lovely little touches in the room. Will most definitely return."
