"We have just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay in the Guest House Douro and could not have been happier with our decision to stay there. A very unprepossessing exterior gives way to a small gem of a guest house/hotel in an excellent location close to the river front in Ribeira. Our room (402) was comfortable and clean with everything we needed and a gorgeous river view. Rooms in cities do tend to be small but it was not unreasonably so. "Mariana is a wonderful host. She waited to greet us after our train was delayed. Her service was much appreciated. Mariana took our luggage to the room, explained all the amenities and gave us tips where to purchase a few items. The place is spotless and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Fantastic location and walkable to many sights. We would highly recommend and Mariana is the perfect host. Excellent!!"

"VC Heritage Ribeira Porto was a fantastic find. Perfect location in Ribiera - steps away from the restaurant scene, Luis II bridge to walk to Gaia. They let us store luggage from 7am, which was a huge help. Rodrigo was super responsive via chat, and José and Catarina at the front desk were warm, polite, and gave great recommendations—not just for Porto but for all of Portugal. Highly recommend!"

"Best location in Ribeira of Porto. While it is located just a few meters from the Douro, it is quiet as no cars are allowed o transit the small service road in front of the Hotel entrance. Just across there is the city tram, taxi and tour buses stops. Dozens of eateries walking distance. Great service, a nice continental breakfast and clean rooms with good bathroom and bed. I certainly recommend this hotel. "

"A second trip for us staying at this same hotel because of the amazing staff, room accommodations, and location. It feels like coming home to a very comfortable, effortless stay! We stayed in Room 45, so highly recommend it for a beautiful view and mini balcony, very private, roomy, with small kitchen area to accommodate the travelers who don’t want to go out to dinner every night. Close to the Porto River, but also beautiful sights and shopping. Love it!!"

"We couldn’t ask for a better place to stay in Porto, the location of this property is superb, the costumer service was excellent! The property is just few steps away from the Säo Bento station, and the Time Out Market. Also, for day trip there is a place crossing the street where activities could be booked. The Rua das Flores is just crossing the street with easy access to bakeries, restaurants and shops. I would stay again in this property and highly recommended it to friends visiting Porto....

"Torel 1884 is located perfectly to explore all of historic Porto. Within short walks of main sites, close to river for accessing the south side of Douro. Many lovely restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. Hotel itself is lovely. We stayed in the apartments and benefited from having a sitting room as well. Very comfortable and well equipped. Hotel staff are all friendly, welcoming and warm. We enjoyed the breakfasts too, good choice and excellent service. Highly recommend."
