Long considered one of the best resorts in the Alps; Sankt Anton am Arlberg has some of the heaviest snowfall in Europe, blanketing the surrounding mountains with thick powdery snow. With a relatively long winter season, generally running from early December to late April, Sankt Anton Am Arlberg attracts many intermediate to advanced skiers, although there are a few beginner's areas too. The resort boasts 94 chairlifts and cable cars, with over 200 km of snow runs, so even at peak season it doesn't feel crowded on the slopes. Galzig is one of the most popular runs, with 2,185 metres of smooth trails reached by shiny modern gondolas. Those after a tougher challenge can enjoy the Valluga trail, the top of which boasts a panoramic restaurant at 2,650 metres high, and there are wilder, but still safely patrolled routes to enjoy. Sankt Anton am Arlberg also boasts some world famous off-piste skiing which is only for the truly skilled, as well as facilities for snowboarding, tobogganing, cross country skiing, and curling. Out of season the resort is still a lively and popular destination, and the melted mountains are ideal for rock climbing. There's also plenty of summer fun including horse drawn sleigh rides, tennis courts, squash, and paragliding for the truly adventurous.

How to get to Sankt Anton Am Arlberg

Innsbruck Airport is just an hour's drive from the town, with rental cars, taxis, and ski shuttle services available at the terminal. There are several flights arriving each day from major European cities, and from the airport you can take a bus to the centre of Innsbruck, and then change for a direct service to Sankt Anton am Arlberg. Innsbruck also has a regular train service arriving daily from Munich which makes it easy to reach from across mainland Europe, and there are also plenty of private ski tours that bring tourists to the town during the snowy season.
