Arosa Hotels

Small but perfectly formed, Arosa is the ideal destination for those who fancy a spot of Swiss skiing but aren't in the mood for one of the city-like mega-resorts. Nestled within a wide valley and bathed in enviable amounts of sunshine, Arosa's crisp air has attracted health-seekers since the 19th century, but these days it's fans of outdoor fun who come for the perfect powder, shimmering lakes and breathtaking trails, all against the dramatic backdrop of the Graubünden mountains.

Things to see

Whether you're a skilled skier or taking your first tentative steps onto the snow, there are pistes of varying difficulty levels at Arosa, so everyone will be in their comfort zone. Of course, if you're after an adrenaline rush you can also go off-piste and explore the sumptuous surroundings. If snowboarding's your thing, check out Arosa Snowpark, where jibbers can show off their moves while skiers go by on the gondola. There's some atmospheric night sledging to enjoy on selected evenings, while one of the most dazzling spectacles of the winter season awaits on Obersee lake, which hosts surreal horse racing on the solid ice. Come the summer, one of the perks of the area is Arosa Golf Course, which boasts the full 18 holes with views over the trees and mountains – you just have to try not to get too distracted by the views. Hiking and mountain biking trails abound, and there's even a bathing beach at Untersee lake, complete with a heated paddling pool and sands to play on. Perfect for young families.
