Larnaca Hotels

Larnaca is a sun-swept palm-lined city set on the shimmering southern coast of Cyprus. The third largest city on the island, Larnaca sings with buzzing seafood restaurants, bouncing bars, and friendly cafés, not to mention a spread of chic clothing boutiques and market stalls. But the city overflows with history and culture too, boasting inspiring museums, galleries, and plenty of architecturally-enthralling heritage buildings. What’s more, Larnaca provides a wide, soft-sanded beachfront, perfect for swimmers and sunbathers.

Things to see

Begin your bright Larnaca morning by soaking up the city’s rich and wonderful heritage. Head over to the Church of Saint Lazarus in Old Town, a magnificent stone structure dating back to the 9th century, which combines the original Byzantine style with Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo influences. Inside, marvel at the ornate gold shrines and pastel-coloured wall murals, and see the reputed second tomb of Lazarus himself. After, visit the banks of the Larnaca Salt Lake, at the south end of the city. In winter, pink flamingos flock to these waters. But the real sight to behold is the Hala Sultan Tekke, a serene, sandy-coloured Ottoman-style mosque surrounded by swaying palms. If you’ve still not got your fix of culture, art fiends should check out the city’s Municipal Art Gallery, while history-buffs gaze at ancient artefacts in the Archaeological Museum. Finally, finish off your afternoon at the silky-soft central Finikoudes Beach.
