Schliersee Hotels

Nestling the edge of the calm, glittering waters of the lake it's named after, Schliersee is a textbook example of an alpine paradise. Visitors flock here to enjoy the water and sweeping views in the summer, and during winter the village becomes a glistening snow capped fairytale landscape. Whether you' want to ski or hike, or simply relax by the lake with a sumptuous picnic, Schliersee makes a blissful getaway for couples and families alike.

Things to see

If you're visiting in the summer, then a boat trip around the shimmering alpine lake is a must. You can also head to the tiny island of Worth that lies in the centre, and bristles with crisp green pine trees. It's the prefect spot for a secluded picnic and indulgent glass of wine. Of course, the lake is equally as stunning in winter months too, when the rich blue waters provide a visually arresting contrast to the pure white landscape. Skiing is well catered for in Schliersee of course, and you'll have access to 12 different pistes of varying skill levels, which amounts to around 25 km of runs. There is no shortage of lifts serving the slopes, so you'll be able to start kicking up snow trails in no time at all. If you're interested in a little sight seeing in between ski trips, head to St Sixtus church and enjoy its vivid frescoes.

Hotels in Schliersee

Schliersee hotels are fairly limited in number, given the small size of the village itself, but that doesn't mean you have to skimp on luxury. You'll find accommodation in Schliersee easily live up to the high standards set by many alpine resorts. Relaxing in a bubbling spa after snaking your down the piste is just one luxury you can enjoy here, and most hotels in Schliersee are also located close to nearby attractions, such as the SLYRS Malt Whiskey Distillery – perfect for a warming tipple before bedtime. You will also of course, find restaurants and bars to unwind in after dark.

Where to stay

The northern part of the village offers the best accommodation locations for all kinds of visitors, whether you're visiting for the skiing and snowboarding, or planning an indulgent romantic break. You'll never be far from the village amenities, and access to the slopes is close by. While the lake is a little farther, thanks to the fact that Schliersee is quite compact you won't be walking for long, and any stroll is also the perfect time to take in the rolling mountain views while stopping off for an invigorating coffee, hearty Bavarian snack, or something a little stronger.

How to get to Schliersee

Despite its remote location, Schliersee is quite easy to reach for both domestic and international travellers. The best option is flying to either Munich or Salzburg airport, and catching one of the train services that will take you to the village. Trains are very regular from both destinations, and tend to take around 40 minutes to an hour. Once you're in the village itself, there are local bus services to the slopes, but walking around at your own pace is perfectly viable, and a pleasant way to take in the rich views of the surrounding countryside.
