Set on the banks of a calm blue lake, and surrounded by rolling mountain scenery; Titisee-Neustadt is a peaceful area of the Black Forest that is made up of 6 small towns. Famous for hosting high profile ski jumping competitions, the winter months bring a thick layer of snow, and there are downhill trails for beginners and intermediate skiers. The cross country trails take you round the lake, and when they melt they make for excellent hiking paths, with wildflowers and trees to be spotted close to the trail.Things to see
The ski season provides plenty of wide slopes for skiers and snowboarders, and the high altitude means there's a nice thick layer of powder. Take the lift to the top and you'll enjoy a panoramic view of the Black Forest, and can enjoy the family friendly trails for the youngest skiers to learn on. You can also take a ride on the toboggan trails, or enjoy dog sledging for a unique way to explore the area. The summer months are also popular with outdoor enthusiasts, with hiking and biking down the mountain trails being one of the main draws. The lake has a few beach areas where you can soak up the sunshine, and the waters are calm enough for swimming, or to take a boat out for the day. If the weather forces you indoors, then the year round Badeparadies Schwarzwald is a lively waterpark where you'll find colourful slides for the kids, extreme slides for the teenagers, and a luxurious spa for the adults to relax in.
