Castelldefels Hotels

Just south of Barcelona, and enjoying a picturesque spot overlooking the Balearic Sea, Castelldefels attracts visitors that want to enjoy its long, golden sanded beaches and sunny climate. The resort has grown in recent years, with many contemporary, high rise hotels offering luxury accommodation, and upmarket restaurants opening in the area. However, the town keeps a historic edge, with castles and chapels dating back to medieval times, and cultural events that showcase the traditions of the area.

Things to see

Castelldefels Castle looks out over the town, with Romanesque architecture and dramatic towers that date back to the 10th century. With sporadic opening times, most visitors simply get to explore the gardens with its rich variety of fragrant flowers, and trees growing in the hillside. However, if you manage to catch a day when tours are being given, you'll enjoy colourful neoclassical paintings, and Roman remains that archaeological digs have uncovered. The Olympic Canal is a much more recent addition to the town, having been built for the 1992 games, and within this artificial stretch of water you can practice your canoeing, sailing, and waterskiing skills, or enjoy the pitch and putt course, archery zone, and climbing boulders that are set along the waters. Another modern addition to the town is the impressive Anec Blau Shopping Center, a contemporary mall set over several floors, with stylish shops, restaurants, and a cinema, as well as areas for children to play and many family-friendly events going on.
