Basingstoke Hotels

Originally created to accommodate London’s burgeoning commuter population, Basingstoke has fast developed into a thriving town in its own right. With excellent shopping and leisure facilities, it attracts visitors from all over the local area and beyond, for family fun and evening entertainment. Basingstoke’s arts scene is going from strength to strength, the Anvil Theatre its shining star. It’s not all about the urban space though, with nature reserves and golf clubs set into the idyllic Hampshire countryside close by.

Things to see

At the heart of Basingstoke’s town centre is Festival Place, a vast shopping mall with over 150 stores and restaurants, as well as a multiplex cinema, so it could well keep you busy for an entire day. When you’ve had your fix of retail therapy, there’s more fun to be had at the Basingstoke Leisure Park, where you can swim, ice-skate, or even try indoor skydiving. The Leisure Park also includes the fascinating Milestones Museum, a working Victorian village, complete with period houses, factories and actors in character roles. In the evening, why not visit the theatre? The Anvil hosts a top selection of big-name acts from the worlds of comedy and music, as well as original theatre performances. When you need a breath of fresh air, visit the Mill Fields Nature Reserve, where you can tramp in the fields and spot wildlife. There’s also a play area for children.
