Kassandra Hotels

Jutting out into the crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea, the peninsula of Kassandra is one of Greek’s leading holiday destinations. Choose from its endless array of beaches and bays, dotted like treasure troves all over the rocky landscape. Bask in the glow of the Greek sunshine, looking out onto the light indigo waters that murmur on to the shoreline. With steep cliff faces topped with dark-green pine forest, contrasted against the cerulean blue of the sky, Kassandra is a pristine coastal getaway.

Things to see

The choice of beaches is almost endless, but an ideal place to start is Pefkochori Lagoon to the southeast of the peninsula. The lagoon is an expanse of clear waters that turn a deep cobalt-blue as you look further out from the shore. Pefkochori also has a variety of prime snorkelling sites, where you can float atop the sea in peace and serenity, scaling the underwater world below. The town of Kallithea is a great alternative, with the sandy Kallithea Beach and a quaint centre proffering a range of restaurants, bars, and cafes. Though not classed as a party town, Kallithea has a number of lively nightclubs nearby, meaning you can always extend your night into the early hours if you wish. Xenia Beach, a horse-shoe shaped bay crowned with pine-forest and grazed with gentle breezes from the Aegean Sea, is another must-see resort.

Where to stay

Kassandra is made up of a series of small villages and towns that all have various accommodation options. Many of the busier resorts such as Hanioti, Siviri and Kallithea have hotels dotted along the seafront just a short amble away from the sun loungers and the beach. All of these resorts, as well as many of the other popular destinations, run along the eastern coast. Hiring a car is advisable, as you can hop between the numerous villages and towns, such as the unspoilt gem of Afios, to enjoy different beaches, an array of seafood restaurants and varied nightlife. If you want something a little different and perhaps less busy, then head to the resorts of the west coast, such as Sani and Skala Fourkas.
