Sestriere Hotels

Hidden away among the towering peaks and rugged slopes of the Val Chisone and Val Susa mountains, this village has become one of Italy's largest ski resorts. The tiny population swells to the tens of thousands during winter, as tourists flock the world over to enjoy the fine powdered snow of the pistes. Given that the village regularly hosts international skiing events, you know you're in for a great selection of runs. The highest 18-hole golf course in Europe is also found here.

Things to see

With a staggering amount of skiing opportunities in the area, you'll really be spoilt for choice if visiting during the shimmering white of winter. Snowboarders will love the Sestriere Snow Park at the Sestriere ski area, which provides plenty of opportunities to pull tricks and show-boat to the local crowds thanks to its location. The accompanying ski area also has a great selection of slopes for all levels, and you can even go heli skiing in the back country. The Via Lattea Ski Area is a great choice if the weather is to bad for the slopes, thanks to the fact it has over 100 artificial snow runs. There are, of course, plenty of natural snow runs too. If you want a little more seclusion, then the stunning Grangesises, just outside of the village, provides sweeping views of the peaks, as well as plenty for winter sports enthusiasts.
