Hotels in Luxembourg

Located on an ancient rock to the south of the Luxembourg plateau, the capital of the Grand Duchy is a cosmopolitan and modern city which is steeped in history. Crossed by two rivers, the Alzette and the Pétrusse, the city of Luxembourg is commonly called the ""green heart of Europe"" because of the attractive landscape and greenery surrounding it. Recognised as one of the three capitals of the European Union and the fifth largest financial centre of the continent, Luxembourg is both a thriving business hub and an important cultural heritage site.

Things to see

The city, with roots dating back to the tenth century, is full of interesting things to see and do. Beyond the glass buildings of the Kirchberg district, you'll find a wealth of fortifications and historical structures to explore. Start with a stroll through the old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire its architectural treasures, such as Saint Michael’s Church, its underground fortifications and, of course, the Grand Ducal Palace. A guided tour of the latter (available in English) will let you discover its wonderful interiors that intertwine styles of the Gothic and Romantic eras. The city is also home to a variety of museums, including the National Museum of History and Art, the Bank Museum and the Museum of Modern Art (MUDAM). A must-see during your stay in Luxembourg is the Musée Dräi Eechelen. Housed within the majestic Fort Thüngen, this museum illustrates the history of the fortress and the Luxembourg national identity.
