This is a very friendly pub that is very busy the only reason I didn’t give 5 * was the pub has kids birthday parties and live music which both are quiet loud

Avoid !

Booked 2 rooms for my sister & niece to stay so they could attend a family funeral the day after. They had a 4 hr journey & reserved a table for 7.45pm they arrived at 7.40 and were told the kitchen was closing in 5 mins & they had to quickly choose from the menu whilst standing, coats still on and not checked in to their rooms. They ordered burgers and had to send it back as they were still raw in the middle ! The floor was dirty in the dining area & they were made to feel uncomfortable. My sisters room had plaster missing in the room, no teabags ( had to ask for some ) marks on the walls where pictures had been, all in all it was a horrible experience for them and I felt responsible as I’d arranged the booking.
My nephew are round the edges of his burger as it was completely raw in the middle, my sister sent hers back
Dirty carpet in dining area

Fake reviews? Noisy and no Breakfast

Booked this hotel based on ratings, location and price. Staff, bar and food all great but no breakfast available contrary to the specifics times stated on their listing. Rooms very noisy due to this being a popular pub. Read reviews when staying as couldn't believe the high score. Seems to have a lot of perfect 10s with few comments and some very low scores. Not a lot in between. Comments in reviews don't seem to have been taken on board from the hotel. My room and a hole in the ceiling, holes in the wall filled and not painted, and a draw missing from the unit. Bathroom was excellent and bed comfy.

2/10 Poor

Hotel Room: Hole in wall, plaster exposed. Reading light hanging from wall. Flat pillows and uncomfortable bed. Flange on bathroom door knob off and rattling on handle. No shampoo. Door to bathroom wouldn't open fully because the floor wasn't straight - trying to open it resulted in it banging head. Fan in bathroom rattles. Vent for fan clogged with dirty dust. Dirty walls. Food: Cousin phoned in advance to pay for dinner as a birthday present. Money accepted, never announced or taken off the food bill. If we hadn't connected, we'd have never known. Sunday dinner was okay. Beef was tough. Vegetables very good. Potatoes not roasted thoroughly. Yorkshire pudding and gravy good. Sticky toffee pudding was very dry. Things happen, but it's how they are resolved that makes a difference. I left a letter for the manager and he never responded. Huge disappointment.

6/10 Good

Staff were friendly and room was perfectly fine. The shower, however, was cold and didn't warm up despite leaving it running for 5 mins. When you're only staying one night for a business trip, a hot shower in the morning is the least you can ask from a hotel. I emailed after checkout (no one from the hotel is present when you leave) to let them know about the shower situation, but so far I have had no response/acknowledgement/apology. Really disappointing.

Shower issue

On arriving to hotel, was impressed with what we so. We Checked in at around 3.o'clock was shown to our room 8 first floor. Room clean with all we needed. 1st thing to do was have a shower to get ready for our evening out with family. Stepped into shower all fine until water stopped running and went into a dribble so not a great experience. The wife followed me in shower that was still dribbling. This was reported to manager when we went do stairs, his reply was somebody stayed in there yesterday and never had a problem? Perhaps its water pressure issue. I will let maintenance know. We did have shower the morning after and all was fine? So perhaps there is a water issue that needs resolving.
