This hotel must have been a lovely lady in her heyday. The location is superb, the rooms are large, but very dated. People with mobility issues would have difficulty staying here.

Bute Pride

Room 309 was comfy and spacious for what I needed to attend Bute pride . Only negatives despite it been a pride weekend on the Isle of Bute was one of the staff who was in his 60s with glasses gave me an intense stare and look of disapproval during my stay at the Victoria hotel Lager cans as rubbish left in a wardrobe in room 309 and not enough milk and sugar in the room to make a coffee . I’d rate the hotel 6 out of 10 score wise as it was nice but dated in room 309 and I spotted a few damp patches and maintenance issues that needed fixed Staff bar one individual were friendly and welcoming and breakfast was fabulous

Nostalgic visit which we very much enjoyed.

We enjoyed our stay and the view of the water and Winter Gardens was amazing. Our reception was very good. The breakfast was very good also.

8/10 Very good

Lovely old hotel. Only drawback is the many flights of stairs to get to the rooms and there was no elevator
Linda, 1-night trip

Great basic small hotel!

The staff was so helpful and the location could not have been better; close to ferry and everything else in town.
Jennifer, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Bedroom was spacious and super king bed.Breakfast was really well cooked and staff were excellent. Too many very difficult stairs with no lift. 5 nights and no cleaning done in the bedroom or bathroom, which I would have to ask to have it done.Ended cleaning it myself. Felt it was not value for money at £100,per night room only. Sorry can’t recommend.

pleasure leisure weekend

went for 2 night stay, ended up staying another 1. only 2 things stopped it being all 5 stars were the stairs and pillows to soft. they even froze my fish for me to take home fresh. will definitely go again.
Gordon, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good value if you are fit and healthy!

Lots of stairs and no lift - which wouldn't have been a problem 20 years ago, but anyone like me with impaired mobility should be warned! Room door lock was not secure - could easily be fixed. But amazingly clean, comfortable, and good value in a very convenient location.
alan, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Had a lovely weekend, our room was a great size and lovely and clean. We only had breakfast at the hotel which was really nice. Staff were lovely and we would definitely stay again.
Janice, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Guest welcome was poor, no help offered regarding facilities or things to do. Restaurant clearly understaffed, food was awful. Would recommend for a short stay but advise you eat elsewhere. Otherwise staff were pleasant.
Safiya, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Spotless rooms, comfy bed, I had a good nights sleep, breakfast was lovely. Horrible door locks. We had a truly awful evening meal in Ghillies the restaurant attached to the hotel...eat elsewhere but I would recommend the Victoria!!

A lovely relaxing stay in Rothesay

Really nice visit. The hotel is ideally situated approx 100 metres from the pier at Rothesay and bus stops and directly across from the tourist information centre. The room allocated was on the 3rd floor and was a good size, very comfortable and clean. There was a small TV and tea / coffee making facilities. Breakfast was provided for £10. Although the choice was limited it was satisfactory for me with cereal, full Scottish breakfast, tea / coffee etc. if I was returning to Rothesay / Bute I would definitely consider a return to this hotel. Thank you for a very pleasant and relaxing stay.
John, 4-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely staff who went above and beyond to make our stay great. We really enjoyed our stay and had an incredible dinner at the restaurant looking over the sea. The hotel was very close to the ferry port and near to local shops so we found it very easy to get around and explore. Would recommend.
Cole, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Staff were friendly and helpful. No lift so had to lift luggage up 3 flights
Douglas, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very nice older property. Very close to the ferry terminal, walking distance. No lift.
Sam, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

The hotel has no lift and guests have at least one floor to climb. We had 3 and it is totally unsuitable for disabled guests. There was no onsite restaurant and breakfast had to be ordered at checkin and full payment prepaid. Staff at the recommended restaurant were rude and refused payment by card suggesting I walk 200 yards to a cash machine. We left after one night and are asking for repayment of the other 3 nights. At least you are responsible for not advising guests that the building is not suitable for disabled guests. Disaster.
