There are dozens of go-go bars around Bangkok – from shiny, bright and lively places where everyone is welcome to dark pits you should avoid. We’ve listed here some friendly clubs for your first-time go-go bar experience in Bangkok – nothing too adventurous; more of a guide to satisfy your natural curiosity.

Since there are 3 famous red-light districts in Bangkok (Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and Patpong) we picked some in each area. All these bars are safe, won't rip you off with an unexpected bill, the dancers are mostly friendly and buying a drink from them is a good way to have a bit of company. Don't expect to have much conversation as English is only spoken to a certain level, and expect to pay a bit more for a so-called "lady drink" than the cost of your own drink. We know that we can't please everyone, but these go-go bars are a good place to start.

    Bada Bing Go-Go Bar

Bada Bing is a fun-loving and friendly bar on Patpong Soi 2 where every night over 25 dancers get up on stage dressed in denim micro-shorts, army uniforms, nurses outfits and many other costumes.

The bar's design is modern, the service prompt, and best of all, Bada Bing is one of the only bars in the Patpong area where you can totally relax and enjoy yourself.

Location: Patpong Soi 2, Suriya Wong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

Open: Daily from 8 pm to 3 am

Baccara is the last bar at the end of Soi Cowboy. This modern and spotless club is much talked about and if you ask any Bangkok night owl where’s the best place in town to have fun, Baccara would probably be mentioned. Multiple levels of comfortable sofas surround a central stage on which many dancers move and shake to the music.

The staff here are very friendly and, of course, will encourage you to buy them a drink. The place can get packed in the late hours, often with a majority of Japanese customers, so if the room is too crowded for you, just walk upstairs where a second, quieter room is available.

Location: Soi Cowboy, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 7 pm to 3 am

    Tilac Bar

Forever immortalised in the Hollywood movie Hangover 2, Tilac Go-Go Bar is one of the biggest in the city. It’s also obvious that a great deal of effort and money was invested in the layout, room design and lighting, even featuring large TV screens tuned to sports channels in case you get bored with the onstage action. Everything inside is ultra-modern, with mirrors everywhere together with metal and neon giving off a futuristic vibe.

A bar counter surrounds the large central stage where 15 to 20 dancer are shaking their stuff at any given time, plus 6 smaller platforms scattered around the room with, of course, even more dancers! Prices for beers are reasonable and fairly average for the area. As a highly popular spot, Tilac gets seriously busy in the later hours.

Location: 23 Soi Cowboy, Khlong Toei, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 7 pm to 3 am

Angelwitch is a renowned go-go bar in Nana Plaza that’s known for having the best live performances in town. For 15 minutes every hour, the dancers dress up and act out a series of short skits to entertain the crowd. Among the tried and tested acts are a high-tempo Thai dance – complete with headdress and long fake nails – a cat burglar sneaking around to the iconic soundtrack of Pink Panther, and, for one customer, a playful striptease.

Angelwitch also commands a loyal following due to its music policy of rock classics and dancers dressed in black leather. You can find it on the second floor of Nana Plaza (take the left-hand escalator up).

Location: Nana Plaza, 1/7 Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 7 pm to 3 am

    Billboard Go-Go Bar

Billboard is on the top floor of Nana Plaza and is among the biggest go-go bars in the area. Once you enter you’ll have to decide if you prefer to sit next to the foam bath or by the dance stage. The place is casual with good music, less of a 'sit-and-stare' kind of go-go, with groups that come here just to have a drink with their buddies.

In reality, chances are your eyes will inevitably be attracted by the action happening on the stages. There are occasional shows involving basic scenarios and nothing too outrageous. Drink prices are reasonable and the bill is brought to you with your drink.

Location: 3rd Floor, Nana Plaza, Soi Sukhumvit 4, Khlong Toei, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 8 pm to 2 am

    Phone: +66 (0)2 656 8074
