    A grand old hotel in a prime location opposite central park. Didn't like being charge > $80 per night for a rollaway bed for my son - disgraceful. A couple of poor staff let the team down.

    Expected better service and room condition for such reputable hotel. We had high tea and the service was terrible, despite booking through reception, there was no booking, despite asking for non meat sandwiches, we were served meat sandwich, which we returned, no waiter to check on the status, very disappointing. Toilet light was flickering all through the stay, a/c was continuously making noises. The stay was certainly not worth the amount we paid for.

    The Plaza

    Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location on 5th Avenue and 59th Street. The subway is right next door and so is Central Park and all the museums and shopping. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Breakfast is pricey but your resort fee can go towards it or there are diners nearby.

    Didn’t live up to the hype

    The room was in need of updating, some items required repairing, the air conditioning was noisy and the room iPad controls were unreliable. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice decor but there were very few plug sockets and no complimentary WiFi which you would expect for somewhere of this price. The communal areas didn’t feel welcoming due to the security for public visiting the hotel, and we were not given any information about the bar or restaurants so didn’t really know what was available and didn’t feel comfortable waking around to have a look ourselves to find out. Whilst staff were generally pleasant, once we checked out we were not offered any assistance with our heavy luggage. The hotel seems to be riding on its name and reputation rather than the quality and service that you actually receive. Glad we stayed at such an iconic hotel but think it is somewhat overrated and not worth the inflated price tag. I don’t think we’ll be returning.
