Bit pricey for what you get. All about location
The hotel is great – on the south shore with easy access to the beach and two pools. The additional $30 daily room fee feels a bit unnecessary especially when guests are already held ransom to very expensive prices in the restaurants for food and drink (breakfast seemed especially pricey) with little other option nearby (the local shopping complex does have some great restaurants and is about a 10 minute walk away). The real point of difference with this hotel is that it is right on the beach and if you have a seafront room here is nothing to beat waking up and watching the waves. He snorkeling in the sea next to the hotel is also magic. The sunset can be viewed from the plantation grounds a minute’s walk down the beach. So it is a lovely hotel but possibly a bit expensive for what you get. The bathrooms could also do with a refurnish as they feel fairly dated and old. I think, if I were to go back, that I’d try and find a self-catering apartment in roughly the same area; possibly the plantation suites (depending on price).

Room was very basic with scruffy finishings and also dusty. Small bed was uncomfortable and garden pool facilities lacking. Staff were friendly.

Outstanding service
The service is what makes this resort special. From the moment we got there the entire staff went out of their way to accomodate our needs. Special Thanks to Edwin at the valet parking desk.

Choose your room location carefully
We were very disappointed on arrival. Our garden view room partially overlooked a parking lot and was across the road from the main hotel - and was really more like a motel stay. The room was small with two double beds. It was impossible to sleep two adults in the double bed and we had three sleepless nights until we were finally able to upgrade to a King and two rollaway beds for the girls at the cost of $40 extra per night. The upgraded room was in the main part of the hotel, which we enjoyed very much. Where you stay in this hotel will make or break your stay. The larger rooms in the main part of the hotel are preferable. You also then have the advantage of not walking back and forth across a road to access the beach. Overall we had a great stay. The food at Lava's was mediocre. Pastries from the coffee shop were good. We would recommend the surf lessons offered by the hotel. The instructor was great and the girls really enjoyed this intro to surfing. If you are staying a week buy your own rash guard shirts ($17) and surf shoes ($15) from local surf shops. It's much cheaper than renting them from the hotel daily.
