t as good as before
Regularly stay at this lovely hotel. Always been one of our favourites but I felt this time it had changed quite a bit. Many more signs of cost cutting. We ordered breakfast to our room and it was pretty terrible to be honest. Cooked breakfast was cold, apple juice was off, no salt and pepper, just nowhere as nice as it has been in the past. Staff however are fantastic, hotel is beautiful and very clean. Spa is brilliant so overall a fantastic hotel, just hope they get back to the standards that they used to have.

Dirty bed linen and mites
I awoke to flea bites on my person. When I threw the bedcovers back to investigate I discovered that the bed linen was in fact dirty with black footprints on the duvet cover. I was quite disgusted, I had turned a blind eye to how dusty the room was but in hindsight I should have said something earlier about that. The room was obviously not being kept as clean as it should be, particularly being the prestigious hotel chain it is. I informed front desk staff and the duty manager took a photo of my wrist which had inflamed flea bites on it, she was horrified and we were informed that they would take care of our bill and apologised profusely. I was sent emails from various personnel informing that this was being looked into, and that I would be receiving a refund. Today I was told I was not entitled to one, that they had offered me enough compensation by paying my lunch bill! Two bowls of soup!! They informed that they had pest control in the hotel and did not find anything untoward in room 411. Really?! I still have flea bite marks from my stay in this hotel, and apparently this does not warrant a refund. I would not recommend this hotel, it looks beautiful but it’s filthy and there are bugs in the bed of room 411. Front of house are very good at listening and proferring apologies, but not good at following through with commitments made. Questioning my claim despite proof. Would you expect to pay to stay in a room with dirty bedding and mites that bite you?? I think not.

Exceptional 10.0
A fantastic hotel for a visit in Edinburgh.
My wife and I visited Edinburgh for 4 nights and stayed at Sheraton Spa Hotel. In short the stay was fantastic, we were very happy with everything. Our room had a view out on the square in front of the hotel and we could see the castle from our window. The room facilites were excellent, spacious and elegant. we had both a bathtub and shower which was nice, a super comfy bed and high quality bed sheets. First day we went to the spa, highly recommend an upgrad to include the hot tub on the veranda, absolutely gorgeous to float around on the bubles and relax. Spa treatment was fantastic, I got a whole body massage and my wife opted for a facial massage, both were very good, extremely relaxing atmosphere and very professional staff. We didn´t go to the breakfast during our stay so cannot give any comments on that. We did spend some time at the hotel bar and this was extremely cosy, nice sitting arrangement and very nice to sit and enjoy converstion and some refreshments. Location of the hotel is perfect, dead center, walking distance to the castle, shopping street, old town and new town, absolutely perfect location and area is clean and nice. Room service was very good and staff in the lobby very helpful with any of our requests, arranging tours or whatever we needed. Scots are in general extremely polite and nice people. We can only give our highest recommendation for both the Sheraton spa hotel as well as visiting the city of Edinburgh

Exceptional 10.0
Spa One is incredible! Been to many spas but never experienced one like this. It is worth the extra charge for the thermal suite. The entire staff of the hotel - front desk, restaurant, spa, room service, bellman were wonderful! Would highly recommend when in Edinburgh!

Exceptional 10.0
Upscale comfort easy access to sights and shopping
As we were only spending a few days in Edinburgh (and didn't want to spend anymore time driving on the left in crazy city traffic) we were pleasantly surprised to find the Sheraton so conveniently located for walking. The entrance to Edinburgh Castle is within a few blocks north, and many blocks of shopping and restaurants to the east with public transit stops taking you anywhere else are very close by. Although, you may never want to eat anywhere but the hotel! The food is wonderful at the restaurant. We reserved Castle View rooms and were not disappointed. The rooms were comfortable and modern if a bit smaller than we're used to in the States, but average size for the U.K., and have USB plugs as well as one American wall plug in the walls. My only slight caution is in regard to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are glassed in boxes, modern, with showers and tubs and mood lighting (the mood lighting is throughout the room) and are very nice. The glass for the walls is whitened except for a few inches near the bottom and the top which are clear glass. Also, one of the doors (there are two--one at each end of the bathroom) pivots and also serves as the door to close off the toilet. All these things are cool and modern but not very private if you're sharing a room with someone, so if you'd be uncomfortable with less bathroom privacy, I'd recommend getting connecting rooms. That said, we loved are Sheraton Grand experience and will definitely return when we come to Edinburgh.
