Lovely hotel in the heart of Kensington.
I traveled to London with my family for the holidays, and we chose a duplex room at the Crowne Plaza as it covered our needs, was very reasonable (approximately 200 pounds per night) and was located close to the Victoria train station (and steps from Gloucester station). We could not have been more thrilled with our choice! The two tiered room was comfortable and well appointed, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the location was everything we had hoped for. Additionally, there are a few good restaurants right down the street, and even better restaurants a few blocks west. There is a Tesco around the corner for basic goods. The free wifi made it easy to summon an Uber when necessary, and on boxing day, when most services were unavailable, the concierge set us up with a nice bus tour to Stonehenge. One additional amenity that we found very convenient during our long stay was the lounge. I am not sure if the lounge is free for all residents (you may have to have a suite for unfettered access), but we used the lounge daily for coffee (I think we broke the record for flat whites in one week), and could also enjoy our complimentary breakfast in the comfort of the same lounge. Throughout the day, cookies, canapes, and drinks were served, and there is a mini-fridge that is stocked with complimentary beverages. All in all, a great place to base any England vacation from! We will most certainly be back.

Great location, just a short walk from Kensington Gardens, Natural History museum, and Victoria and Albert museum, and right next to the Gloustcer Road rube station, making it very easy to get around. We had tickets for a Chelsea game and found the walk to the stadium to be very pleasant and only took 30 minutes (Easter weekend tune closures meant we only had bus options to get to the stadium). I’m our first night we discovered that the air conditioning wasn’t working in our room and because of the unseasonably warm temps, it was very hot in our room. Because we discovered this at 10 pm, there wasn’t much they could do, though they moved us to a smaller room that at least had functioning windows, even though that one also had broken AC. The next day they moved us to a room with functioning AC and they took special efforts to make sure the temps would be comfortable. To make it up, they also gave us access to the concierge area, which was very nice and included delicious breakfast items, coffee and tea all day, and happy hour snacks and drinks. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kind to us and made up for the inconvenience of moving rooms multiple times. Thanks for making our trip comfortable!

A pleasant stay in London
I decided to book a more upmarket hotel for the overnight stay in London to ensure that the room would be of a high standard. I was not disappointed. The ‘standard’ room was a decent size with a HUGE double bed and standing lamp, armchair & footstool in the corner. Crowne Plaza has a slogan that it’s the little things that matter (or words to that effect) and they mean it. There’s the usual dressing gown and slippers and a whole range of toiletries. Then there’s the tea and coffee tin that has more than your usual number of supplies and with a chocolate bar too! The bar fridge is also nice to have. The bed and pillows were very comfortable indeed. There’s a lovely garden and bar out back which is a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Cromwell Road. Although the room faced onto Cromwell Road, the traffic noise was barely noticeable. Room service food was tasty and of a good standard. However, when I tried to get their advertised 24-hour room service, there was no reply on any of the phone numbers. When I eventually went down to reception, I was told to go across the road to Tesco Express for food. That was disappointing. As for car parking, I booked a place in the Millenium Hotel parking garage (through JustPark) just around the corner.

Clean, comfortable and great location
Despite some drawbacks, we mostly enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza Kensington. The hotel property and rooms were clean. We chose this hotel for the double bed family rooms, which was surprisingly spacious. I really liked that breakfast was included so that gave us a peace of mind when starting our day. Location was superb as the hotel is located across the Gloucester tube station and a short walk to Harrods and other shops. My only issue was with housekeeping. Our room included two complimentary bottles of still water upon check-in. The bottles were replenished on the second day but were forgotten on the third, forth and fifth day. Perhaps it was because we had purchased additional bottles of still water and placed them in the mini fridge, but we were also entitled to the complimentary drinks each day during our stay. My husband had to purchase two bottles from the front desk one evening at £2 a bottle (Boots pharmacy across the street closes at 8pm). Housekeeping also didn't bother cleaning/replacing the used mugs and spoons. By the fifth day of our stay, we had a closet full of used mugs that had been there for three days. Granted we could have easily rinsed them for re-use but the onus should have been on housekeeping and not the guests. Even so, I would probably stay here again just for the comfort of two beds and the convenient location.

2 minutes walk from Glouster underground & fantastic variety in the breakfast buffet. A Waitrose supermarket is across the road & there a variety of dining within 5 minutes walk. A left onto Glouster road takes you in the direction of HydePark & Kensington Palace this a comfortable 18min stroll. Kensington High Street is filled with all the usual stores. The Natural History museum & Harrods are also about the 10 & 20 minute walk mark on Cromwell road. Buses approx every 8- 12 minutes to return if legs get tired. Hyde Park has abundant bird & squirrel populations to enjoy. Winter Wonderland is located here at Xmas time there are also lake activities, bike hire and art galleries to enjoy. So this hotel is a fantastically convienient & beautiful location in our opinion. Piccadilly Line is easy to use to travel to other major tourist must see locations. Walking is better for getting your bearings or the double decker busses which are fun but slow in heavy traffic times. The Crowne Kensington was a really nice base with a upmarket but comfortable & friendly style.
