The most appalling experience I've ever had and I'm widely traveled. The inn closes early but they didn't see fit to tell me that. I returned at 10.45pm to find all doors locked, no keyholes (padlocked internally it turns out), no doorbell, no sign, no phone number, no access to my room. I googled, found a number & a woman answered saying her husband sold the pub 10 years ago & this keeps happening & she could tell me how to get in - I had to go behind a Domino's, thru a dubious looking archway, up a fire escape and my key opened a hidden back door. It was thanks to her that I got back into my room, not to anyone who actually works there. I told them I'd be leaving earlyish (7.15am) and they didn't tell me either that the doors would be padlocked in the morning, so I also couldn't get out once I'd gotten in. No one in sight except a delivery man who luckily opened one door so I could squeeze out. They left a woman traveling alone with no support, no access to the room I paid for, no way to get in or out and none of the information I needed. And a kind stranger who used to own the pub had to help me. I am trying to figure out where to report them because as far as I'm concerned this is breach of contract - they did not provide me with adequate access to the service I paid for. No info, no help, no one available, no one around at all. And I was not coming & going in the small hours - back before 11pm and leaving at 7am but I was totally locked out and locked in. Unbelievable.
