Beautiful hotel with a few exceptions
We stayed for four days to visit my grown sons. We had gone to the Sunday Brunch in past visits and thought it would be a nice place to stay. Its a beautiful hotel and for the most part we really liked it with a few exceptions. I hate to say one person can ruin a visit but it can happen. They have a nice whiskey and cigar bar at the hotel and I was excited to have a scotch and cigar with my wife and two boys. The first night it was closed for a private party. The next night we stopped by and the place was packed. A young couple went in right before us and walked right in. We were stopped by the host and told us they had no tables. I asked if there was a wait and he said it was waiting list only. I asked how long for a table and he said at least 45 minutes. He never offered to take our name or offer to add our name to any list. He acted like he wanted us leave and seemed put out that we wanted to come in. I left frustrated and disappointed. The next night I looked down from our floor and the place was packed but they had put extra chairs and tables in the lobby of the bar for the overflow. I guess we weren't important enough. A very nice hotel ruined by one employee who could have handled the situation much better. I wont stay here on my next visit in December.

Very good 8.0
Historic hotel but....
Hotel is a must at least once in your life. After that it depends on the price. Small rooms with smaller bathrooms. Not high-end products in bathroom. Typical hotel mini bottles. Only 1 robe (torn) for 2 guests. Mini fridge but no mini bar. Good towels and awesome bed/bedding. Ok for 1 night but need to upgrade if staying longer. Didn't hear traffic or other guests at night. Hotel is historic and beautiful. Character around every corner. Staff friendly and attentive. Cigar bar was the best! Drinks, snacks and smoking inside was enjoyable. Only down side is the Sunday brunch. Hot food was cold and cold food was warm. Not much of a selection. Very expensive for what it was(small and not much variety). Told by numerous employees that it compares to the Broadmore but not even close! Will not be doing brunch again. Champagne not what was posted online. Not unlimited as told but 3 or 4 glass limit. Told we needed reservations but went in early and plenty of seating. If you have time take the hotel tour. Desserts at Cigar bar was worth every penny! Didn't do tea but looked wonderful. Charm from a different era. Didn't do spa on this trip. If a special deal, I would stay again in a larger room. 1 block from 16th street mall and shuttle bus. Valet parking overnight was $50 not bad for downtown. Was charged $100 for valet but they quickly corrected the mistake. No in room check out but front desk was quick. App won't let me upload photos

Christmas night, what a perfect place to stay
Check in was amazing, they did not have the room type which I requested through and were apologetic. But after a brief discussion they made different arrangements so that there were enough beds for everyone in our party, and I think they went above and beyond to do that for us. It was Christmas night, and I accepted it like a gift. Everything was wonderful, the hotel is so beautiful and the staff was very kind. I would like to make two suggestions however. I was in the hotel lobby reading, early the next morning, for about an hour when I eventually went to the front desk to ask how I could get a cup of coffee. They were very nice and led me down a short hallway to a barista, I didn't have any idea that was available to me, snacks and wonderful coffee drinks, but it would have been better if someone and seen me during that hour and told me how I could get something to eat or drink, or better yet if they had told me about this hidden barista stand, at check in. But it worked out fine, the lobby was peaceful and the coffee was terrific. Also, there were many lights in our room, from the T.V. to the hallway lights coming in under the door, to the thermostats (yes, two), but I was able to use pillows and other fabrics to cover all those lights, and got a great night's sleep.

Expedia did not get the hotel reservation booked correctly. I booked a room with 2 double beds and they only had a King single bed available. I had to book a second room for the 2 nights. The hotel staff was less then sympathetic or accommodating to me. There was a Debutante Ball going on during our stay and between the sound checks during the day and the music for dancing that went on in the lobby until 2 AM we got very little rest. The speakers were set outside our door on the 3rd floor and the room was literally vibrating with the sound. The hotel staff was overwhelmed meeting the needs of the Ball attendees and failed to replace the coffee cups and water glasses in our room, leaving the dirty glasses at the bedside. They took our used bath towels that were hung up but failed to replace them with clean towels. I realize the event is a very important and time honored tradition in the hotel but I believe they fail to take care of their non- Debutante guests during the event. We did reach out to Expedia to help us in resolving the booking issue and got absolutely NO WHERE. I fault Expedia evenly for the problems I experienced during my stay.

Amazing Hotel Experience
Palace is part of this hotel's name and it earns that title. Our stay was magical. The staff are friendly and well trained, the rooms comfortable and the lobby beautiful and historic. Example: we were unpacking and found that my husband's mouthwash had leaked, staining 6 dry clean only silk shirts. It was 10 PM. What to do? Call Guest Services of course. They sent up a staff member from Housekeeping immediately to pick up the shirts, assuring us that the items would be dry cleaned the next morning and returned same day to our room. They showed us a piece of paper hanging in our closet that quoted the rates. Sure enough, the shirts were returned to us, looking like new the very next afternoon. Saved us having to buy 6 new shirts. Another example: After a busy day of sightseeing, we wanted to watch NFL Sunday Night Football in our room. No problem. The TV was large and room service provided an ample menu, good food and great service. They told us it might take 40 minutes but it only took 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Another example: The Hotel is very well located. The American Museum of Western Art is, literally, across the street. Other attractions are an easy drive (under 2 miles) away. Unlike some downtown hotels, The Brown Palace valet service operated quickly to retrieve our car. We never had to wait more than 7 minutes. Negatives: Parking almost $50 per night. No free wyfi.
