This was a fun hotel. They host huge dinners and parties for the community. You might think these would be a bother for travelers, but they are handled well so were not a problem for us. The sink in our bathroom didn't drain well. It's a very old building. We stayed there two nights, however, and were comfortable. This hotel is close to the Riverside Museum, a great museum of transport which we recommend.

Improving but needs more staff.
Stayed here on business as part of a small exhibition event also in the hotel. Not my first visit and overall the hotel did seem better than last time (about 3 years ago). The upgrades in the bedrooms are much better although the mattress was exceptionally hard. The main issues were with service in the bar/restaurant area. Very hard to find someone to serve, I had a pint of beer which had a lot of 'stuff' floating in it (which they did change when raised with them) and food which had been pre-arranged was over 30 minutes late. Seems they need more staff. Also, only one (very small) lift is working so it can be a long wait to get a lift during busy times.

exactly suited our needds for geog
Two very small caveats - if the television was working it was too complex for me to find a way into its programming - notice indicated there was not aerial connection. When will hotels learn that guests very often wish to ead in bed. This hete had well placed bed lights but the lowest brightness of any LED I have experienced -. not expensive to get this right!
