Good location, rooms lacked proper sound insulation, breakfast buffet good, but other menus very limited, pity. It's a big busy hotel, showing it's age.

Lovely hotel but rude staff
This is a top class hotel but so big that customer service has evaded them. Apart from the bellboys and the guys who kept my luggage the customer service was appalling and I was surprised at how rude everyone was. I had a terrible check-in experience where I had to argue and prove I had already paid for the room. Despite this the hotel still wanted a $100 refundable deposit on the room. Check out wasn't any better and I was refused a receipt to prove I had paid a deposit. The breakfast was ridiculously expensive at nearly $30 and wasn't worth it at all. It's a lovely hotel in terms of decor and it's location but the rudeness of the staff and the poor welcome after such a long flight means that I don't recommend it at all and I will never go back there. Their one saving grace is that I stowed my luggage there all day on day of check out, $1 well spent.

Big TV, but shower didn't drain well.
Two issues: Had booked 2 nights at $105/ea and received confirmation of a grand total of $241.40. Wife was with me on this business trip. We'd been busy earlier in the week during our 22nd wedding anniversary which we didn't really get a chance to celebrate. So the Hilton was a bit of a splurge for us. I mentioned this to the person at check in and asked if any free upgrades were possible. She was very polite and said "sure, how about a corner room?" She also convinced me to join Hilton Rewards for free to get additional perks such as wireless internet. We'll, it wasn't until I looked at the invoice after checking out that I discovered that the corner room upgrade was NOT FREE as the charges were $46 more than the $241. So, one of us had a misunderstanding. Not real angry, just very annoyed...especially since I rarely spend $100 or more for a hotel while on business in D.C. Red Lion in Arlington is a favorite, was $63 and a value. Room was nice, but a little small with the king overwhelming the room. The 50-inch TV was a pleasant surprise, especially compared to Red Lion's tiny little 27-inchers with awful analog signal. Second issue is the shower drain, which drains very slowly. By the end of a 10-minute shower you're standing in a good 2 - 3 inches of water. After fooling with it to see if it was raised, noticed that it was, but there is a black band of rubber below the 'plug' or cap that seems to be designed to intentionally slow the drain. Why is that?.
