It’s weird this one.
We nearly always stay in Mercure or Sebels in Australia.
The Edinburgh Mercure had great staff but rubbish rooms.
Mercure Inverness had great rooms, the receptionist (with two letters) was terrific as was the other one... but...
... the breakfast staff were unprofessional, lazy, sullen, and really couldn’t care less. Tables weren’t cleared long after the people left and the poor punters were left looking for uncleared tables. One couple were trying to find a table out of around 20 and this loud expat (me) declared that the staff must be on strike as nobody was there apart from the one behind me with the sullen expression, who must have heard me because the pace picked up slightly.
The obvious boss came in and gave a couple of them a shout and we expected them to improve. The following morning was slightly better and we had the interesting floor show of a guest being weird and then being arrested.
Still no Scottish beers so we refused to sit in the brilliant bar - along with nobody else!
Still a worry with breakfast the same for both days, bread not being replaced when empty and general apathy from all the breakfast staff including the cook.
Dear manager
Not a good look for an Accor hotel and we hope to see better on the last three weeks of our tour.
