Wouldn't stay here again
The person on reception on the evening i arrived was quite rude and not very helpful. The lady on the following morning was much more accommodating and helpful. The fire alarm went off in my room at 8am, only in my room, and the receptionist on at the time, didn't know why it only went off in my room at 8am when i was sleeping, not even an apology, and was also rude and abrupt about the incident. In the restaurant they weren't overly attentive, pretty frustrating to ask for the cheque over and over. Overall the hotel was clean, but its quite basic and the staff except for the one receptionist need to work on their customer service manner.

OK... but some unusual things
Check in was a weird one. I booked through Expedia, so they were a bit confused as to why I haven’t pre-paid for my room. Then expected payment immediately, seems they don’t do pay at check out like other hotels. You also don’t check iut. You drop your keycards in a box. The rooms are meant to have a theme, you can see I was in one with daisies on the carpet and a grass block. That’s cute. But half the carpet wasn’t matching. The room was rather cramped, for 2 single beds. The “view” was that of a delivery area(?). The air con was a bit noisy. We only got 2 towels (not bath sheets) and a bath mat. Would have been nice to also have a hand towel each, so I could dry my hands face and hair with a towel I hadn’t just used to wipe my (clean) body. The toiletries were not the usual cute hotel ones you get but full size ones which basically you would have shared with everyone else who used the room before you. There was only 2, one by the sink and 1 by the shower. A hair and body wash. No conditioner. The one in the shower was empty. The shower was good, Hans grohe and Mira, the water is very hot. Could have been a bit cleaner. A fancy Villeroy&Boch sink. However this was installed very high, making it difficult for me, at 5’2”, to use. The hairdryer was ok, I’ve had much worse in other hotels. Great mirror in the bathroom, awesome for make up.

Great service but bad energy
From the day we entered we received excellent service. The supervisor even upgraded our room to a family room so that we could receive another bed for our son. The hotel was class and so was the service. However, why it didn’t receive full marks was because of the weird energy we felt in our room the night of our stay and it didn’t help that on the walls were creepy pictures of people staring at us. Knowing it’s an old building that was refurbished didn’t add to that feeling. I am sorry I may sound superstitious but as Christians we didn’t enjoy this energy. Overall we love the service and if decor was different we would have given the full 10/10 rating.

Adequate room
The location of this hotel was great - close to train station and city centre. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The room we were in definitely needs a little TLC and the carpet looked a little mismatched. It was quite chilly overnight as we had to switch off the air conditioning unit - a little too noisy for a quiet night's sleep. The towels were thin and not very large or fluffy! Breakfast was adequate but didn't look like the breakfast on the photos.

not perfect but still great!
Hotel is so well located. We parked at the NCP car park nearby and paid £21 for a day and half which is great for a city centre (the hotel gives 25% off the parking cost). The staff were lovely and super helpful. The only concern was that we only had one spare pillow, the shower leaked only to bathroom floor when used and the hairdryer kept cutting out but otherwise the stay as fine! Would stay again as the location was perfect for exploring Manchester.
