Malmaison Edinburgh
Nice place. Be prepared to wait.....
Service very very slow (especially in bar area). Extra staff needed. Hotel itself lovely although starting to look a little rough round the edges compared to when we stayed there a few years ago.

Great stay
Lovely hotel with large room and comfy bed in a great location with plenty good pubs restaurants and cafes. Had one of the best meals ever in the Chez Mal Brasserie restaurant. Highly recommended

A great Regular stay in a smart old building
The Hotel is a regular of ours and is great for the Leith area. Also easy to get up town. My only complaint really is that the lift from reception is very disconcerting. It is slow and creaky with the odd thump. Bar and restaurant are both really smart and a pleasure to be in

Friday night stay
It’s a great area to wander around with a cool little market on Saturday morning. The hotel is fine. It’s starting to show it’s age in terms of decor. Must be getting old as the singer in the bar on Friday evening was very good but don’t expect to have conversation or order your drinks easily! Good food, dinner took a while. Booked table for 8pm but didn’t finish eating our two courses until 10pm though food was good if slightly pricey by the time you add on accompanying potatoes and veggies. Bedroom was too warm and no air conditioner to alter heat. So there were niggles but don’t let them put you off. Some great restaurants nearby

Not up to the usual standard!
Not as good as Malmaison usually is. One of the rooms we booked was very noisy very early in the morning. Breakfast service wasn't great. None of our used plates were removed from our table so we ended up with a table full of dirty dishes. Lots of tables round us were piled high with dirty dishes which no one cleared up. It was so bad people were having to wait in the lobby for a table to have breakfast. Really disappointed as we regularly use Malmaison and have never experienced this before.
