Room was Fine, Breakfast could be better
The hotel is in a lovely Art Deco old Bank I think, beautiful building. Fantastic bar area very artistic. Room was fine, bathroom spotless, just a bit dark, lighting was either full blast spotlights or very dark, hard to get an in between level. Bed was a bit soft but I understand thats personal preference. Happy with all the equipment and complimentary water, hot drinks, snacks etc, Good to have an iron, and robes, slippers would be good, but not an issue. The main are for improvement has to be the dining room and breakfast arrangement. Its in a basement with artificial lighting, which in the evening would be fine but at breakfast was way too dark. Also we said no small amount for room with Breakfast, which was continental breakfast. You could ask for various cooked items, but would be charged an extra £2! Is it really necessary to charge such a stupidly small amount, surely the hotel can afford to provide any breakfast inclusive. Really to charge £2 just gets peoples backs up, you could put 1 packet less of biscuits in the room or smaller bathroom products if you need to save money. Its a small thing but makes such a difference to us, really unnecessary. Apart from that it was fine, maybe the public areas i.e. corridors etc need a bit of a spruce up, but small issues for me.

Disappointing bathroom
The decor is good, size is good, and size of tv is fantastic. The bed was really comfortable. I stayed in room 460 and there were a number of issues with this room. I will start by saying there are lots of great things about this room too. There were 3 things which taken individually would not have made me feel so disappointed in my stay. I informed reception on checkout and so hopefully these have been fixed and so any future stay will be an A1 experience. 1) There was a constant buzzing noise all night. We were very tired and drifted off to sleep easily but during the night when I woke I could not get back to sleep for the constant buzzing noise. Not wanting to wake my wife I stirred for a few hours and had a poor night's sleep. Upon inspection in the morning, checking smoke detectors, bathroom, tv etc we found out that it was the USB chargers at the side of the beds. Particularly the one nearest the bathroom was quite loud. Both gave off a hum. 2) The shower dials were unusable. If you chose to have a shower and not a bath when you tried to turn the temperature dial it would not as the bath dial below blocked it from turning. The shower was very cold. Thankfully it was possible to remove two arms of the dial to allow it to turn and the water to heat up. No occupant should have to do this in such a hotel. 3) The cold water tap in the sink was weak, at 25% pressure of the hot water. The hot water had no problem.

Exceptional 10.0
2xnights stay standard room fourth floor *****
french inspired hotel with artistic flare to be seen throughout the hotel ..visually compelling upon entry to reception area with the portrayal of art featured on the stairwell comfy seating and beautiful full length mirrors hallway to rooms leads over a balcony with views over the the bar/lounge area hallways modernly decorated and minimalistic with staircase to top and bottom floors there also features a elevator with modern french interior i had stayed in a standard double room upon the fourth floor of the building the room had a modern flare with nice lighting features and trash poker wall art ..and the bathroom with modern features bath/shower large mirror and also balcony styled window ..provided was shower gel and shampoo and also earbuds and make up pads which was a nice touch the bedroom also featured a modern desk with all the tea coffee facilities required (Italian filtered coffee and twinnings tea ) there was also a mini bar with snacks and refreshments hairdryer ironing board and a fan for summer nights the room was spacious for 2 and plenty of storage space and another balcony stlyed window and veiws over the city the only down side was the television lacking a decent signal so only 2 channels had worked beautiful modern television facilities could do with a upgrade ... lack of signal only two channels were working correctly

A regular stayer at Malmaison but the first time in Glasgow. Very disappointed compared to their usual high standards. Room 104 had following issues. Air conditioning VERY noisy when it randomly kicked in throughout the night. Couldn’t switch off as internal room so no windows. Even with air conditioning room very stuffy. Floorboards creaked all over room, enough to wake partner up when going to the toilet during the night. Shower screen incorrectly fitting meaning floor soaking after a shower. Lastly notified hotel in advance it was a significant birthday for my partner and that was the purpose of our stay and no acknowledgement on check in. Did the same for my birthday 4 weeks earlier in Malmaison in Manchester where we were greeted by staff when we checked in saying it was great we’d chosen there to celebrate my birthday, complimentary cocktail vouchers on arrival and bottle of fizz and card in our room when we got to our room. Exact same situation in Glasgow nothing. Will definitely stay in Malmaison again, just unlikey to be in Glasgow
